As I’m sure many of you know by now, since it’s been picked up on seemingly EVERY sports outlet in America, our Alumni Association obviously had a donation drive autotext loaded to send out to everyone on their list if we beat OU. Someone forgot to turn it off and at 5pm yesterday, 1,000s of people received the infamous text celebrating our victory and asking for a donation. (From what I gather, if you’ve ever bought tickets to an FAU event you got the text, bc I had non alum friends who have come to a single game text me the link)

I get it, mistakes happen. This one is not ideal given the final score. 

Here’s my problem…the FAUAA has been pushing social media hard, there are people tweeting and posting on their other channels constantly, yet when a screw up like this happens we get…nothing? SOMEONE say something! 

Secondly, some news outlets are tying Lane to it, “crazy Kiffin” does it again type storylines…truly my desire for someone to take ownership of the mistake is to take it off of him. 

I think we’ve missed our chance to spin it in a funny, positive way now. We’re just hiding, like MJ Saunders .

The media adding Lane's name to the story brings a "interest" spin to the story. But as we have learned lately, the media can say anything if it fits a narrative. If I was the head of the AA, I would have instantly turned it into something humorous. It was a simple error. But the opportunity has passed.

Simple error? Really!  STUPID ERROR AND MAKES THE ENTIRE U LOOK AWFUL!!! WORSE THAN THE BEATING IN THE GAME ITSELF, THIS SPEAKS TO THE U!

It's a joke that "media" is making a deal of this…then again, they are pretty much good for a punch in the gut anytime something happens of negative fashion… Never positive (for the most part) and only want to focus on the negative…

So what that someone forgot to shut off an automated feed… At least they had something planned…Guess what, so did I…

So, as to not let it go to waste - feast on what could have been!

 

Kiffin brings attention the school, so expect things like this to be magnified with him at the helm. This was a real ridiculous snafu, but so long as he is here things like this are bound to be picked on and magnified. Obviously, the good far outweighs the negative, so I won't lose sleep over this.

Well, Coach K did not do it, nor did the school. I have zero problem with something was prepared to go out but surely it could have been saved in a file then HAVE TO BE OPENED , ENTERED AND THEN SOMEONE CLICK THE SEND BUTTON AS SAFEGUARDS FIRST, NO?

I'm with you on this.

FAU should have had an apology out within 10 minutes of this happening. It's been two days and still nothing.

President Kelly usually addresses these things pretty quickly. I'm surprised.

I'm sure someone's going to meme this, like FAU AA sends out text that FAU beat UCF before kickoff, etc
