Just for discussion. Who says that Wright would keep the current staff? These guys weren't his picks.Posted On: Nov 27th 2013, 9:14 AM #322554
I believe Wright knows he has a great group of coaches… I could see him adding in, maybe a few reassignments, but think they would stay in tack for the most part.

Based on some of his pressers, he relates to the situation many coaches are in after the firing of Pelini. He seems like a person who is compassionate enough to give them an opportunity as well since they played a part in keeping this team together and winning.

I actually just looked at the comments to the Yahoo article. I will be back later. I need to go take a shower and get clean after reading the incredibly personal derogatory remarks about some really good people.Posted On: Nov 27th 2013, 9:24 AM #322558
Thank you, that's EXACTLY why this site is run the way it is.
Yahoo! is the garbage can of "discussion".

We also have a responsibility to the other coaches, their wives and children, two of which are newborns.
Here is an excerpt from the Bozman News when it was annouced that he was leaving:
Under two years of Wright, the Bobcats turned into a Big Sky Conference power. MSU gained 11,014 yards of offense and scored 97 touchdowns, split almost evenly between 2010 (5,422 yards, 47 TDs; 451.8 yards per game) and 2011 (5,592 yards, 50 TDs, 430.2 ypg). Twenty-five Bobcats were named All-Big Sky Conference team members in two years, including six on the first team with no repeats. MSU has garnered the BSC Newcomer of the Year honor in both years, with quarterback Denarius McGhee earning the accolade in 2010 and running back Tray Robinson being selected this past season.
Wright helped guide back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers in Orenzo Davis (1,106 in 2010) and Cody Kirk (1,351 in 2011) and presided over the two-year MSU career of wide receiver Elvis Akpla, who ended his tenure as one of its most prolific pass-catchers in school history with 126 catches for 2,127 yards and 18 touchdowns. Akpla was also named to the AP All-America third team and to Phil Steele's FCS All-America team.I
In two years under Wright's tutelage, McGhee has thrown for 5,962 yards and 46 TDs.
More than any of the numbers or awards, though, Wright seemed most grateful for the chance to help mentor student-athletes.
"I just hope that I was able to make an impact on the players that I coached here … (on) more than just the field," Wright said. "Something they can take with them beyond football when they graduate from Montana State.
If their is a petition to keep Coach Wright I haven't seen it. The petition should be coordinated by the Prowlers or strudent government and hundreds of the should be brought to the stadium on Friday. I think 10,000 signatures should do it!

However, I am still kicking myself for sending the same type of letter in support of a new agreement for Jarvis.
When you are looking for a new coach or to retain Wright you think about the next 5-10 years…NOT THE LAST 3 WEEKS. There is a lot that goes into being a head coach of a DI football program. You have to fundraise, sell, recruit, coach, manage other coaches, etc. I am not close enough to know if Brian Wright is effective at all facets of being a head coach. I just know there's a lot more to being an effective DI coach than game planning.
Can he recruit? Can he fundraise? Can he manage the coaching staff? Can he handle player issues? I am not saying he can or cant…but winning the last 3 games gives no kind of accurate berometer it. I remember Jarvis coming off his ONE winning season at FAU and people screaming about his contract not being done…now I sit through every game and cant wait until he is gone and the contract I supported and sent letters to get signed is done.
Trust Chun to do a good job and make a good decison. He has 18 years experience to your zero and its his career on the line.

I'm not against Wright, I am for him getting a fair shot.

This ^^^.
Not a better way to put my thoughts. Wright may end up being the best coach for the job, but let Chun go through all avenues before making this hire. Chun's career at FAU maybe defined with this next hire, so let him go thru a due process. Honeslty I hope Wright is the guy, but more has to be proven than just the past 3 weeks!

I think if Wright gets the job we can all believe that Chun thinks he was the best man for the job.Posted On: Nov 27th 2013, 3:31 PM #322572
+1, he shouldn't be the AD if he hires him for any other reason.
