Angelos out?

Angelos out?

Considering Ted Hutton's blog today talks about the search for a new coach and he has quotes from Angelos about how he will be conducting said search, I'd say this story pretty much has no legs.

I don't have any inside information or any sources about any of this, but my feeling is that remember Nick Saban also said he wasn't leaving Miami for Alabama. This happens in sports all the time. No one is going to say yeah, you got me! I actually have a final interview for another job but the school doesn't know yet. Technically he's still the AD so he's going to continue to do his job as the AD. That doesn't mean that in 2 weeks he'll still be the AD

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Agreed.  But if there were rumors about him leaving, I'd think out local reporters would want to report that story.  So far, there has been nothing reported about him even interviewing elsewhere.  I'm not saying it's not possible, just that there are a couple of people who report everything that happens at FAU for local news outlets and so far I've seen nothing.

Re: Angelos out?

The rumors are about him getting let go, not taking another job. Typically, you don't inform the person getting let go in advance  :)

At least, those were the rumors I'd heard. It'll be virtually impossible to verify with anyone though, it's not like the BOT will come out and say something if it were true so we'll all have to wait and see.

As I said earlier though, IF (and that's a very big IF) this were happening they would most likely have his replacement in line already

Re: Angelos out?

I'm sure all the people who cover FAU are well aware of the rumors but they can't quote an anonymous source. Ted can't run with the story based on a rumor. If no one in athletics or Angelos himself aren't willing to tell the truth right now, then no one will report it.

That's what makes boards like this great because we can all speculate and discuss things like this

Re: Angelos out?

From Ted earlier!

I should have mentioned that Angelos said Jarvis has a draft of his contract, so they are getting close. He is hoping to have it wrapped up before the start of the season.
No truth to rumor Angelos is leaving. I talked to him yesterday. He's here and working on hiring a football coach.

Re: Angelos out?

Good, I want him to pull EVERY BYU string he can and hire Coach Leach for us.

Get it done Mr. Angelo's - and PLEASE don't get ANY input for Coach S. - I love what he HAS DONE for us here at FAU but that time is past - he has proven with the team's recruiting and play and LACK of ADJUSTMENT to ANYTHING over the past three (or four) years that has simply lost it as a Coach.

Get us Leach and we become Boise St. EAST, in a hurry too!

Re: Angelos out?

I finally got back from South Florida and the Bahamas (in time for a snowstorm in Denver), and I just saw this thread. I hope Craig Angelos will stay at FAU. He has done well, and he has a lot more to do, including identifying and hiring a football coach and settling things with the basketball coach.
