"Shannon prefers a higher-profile job, ideally out west, and would love the Arizona gig" I prefer to stay at home and make a few million dollars a year. Neither one is going to happen

I know some people bash Angelos on this board and want him gone, but in reality we really don't give him enough credit. Maybe he doesn't want to be here, who knows. But he's not just sitting in his office reading message boards and laughing at all of us. "I want to have a coach in place by December", get us Leavitt or Leach and then work on Jarvis and I'd be plenty happy with the job he's done so far.

I personally believe Angelos does a great job for FAU. He always seems to do what's in the best interest of the university. Can't really blame him for occasionally looking into bigger opportunities for himself here and there. Most of us would do the exact same. This school is Passion for us but for him its his career. All in all I think he gives us 100% and has played a huge role in greatly improving FAU athletics.

Angelia seems thrilled about the prospect of Shannon, perhaps because he thinks UM fans who liked Shannon would adopt FAU as their second team and boost attendance.

"I would consider Mike" (Leach) is less than a ringing endorsement.

Meanwhile Leach is being named for EVERY open coaching position because of his past success. It's going to be an interesting off-season.

Shannon does nothing for me as a coach. He seemed like a good recruiter for a while but he could do absolutely nothing with those recruits. He just seems so dull and boring. I hope we bring someone that knows how to light a fire into the team and can bring excitement and life back into the program.  For some reason I think if Shannon came here it would be a continuation of what's going on right now with the program. What makes me nervous is that is be willing to bet Shannon is angelos and schnellies first choice right now. Personally think its time we start a new chapter of FAU football and that would involve someone not from UM.

It's very encouraging that Leach is willing to talk.  If Craig lands Leach that would be a the biggest coup in FAU history. Think about it:

Stadium would sell out or be at near capacity for every game.

No begging to get into Conference USA, they'd be banging down our door.

Huge recognition with more nationally televised games .

I still think it is a stretch…..But if he is willing to take the pay cut, stranger things have happened.

Re: Angelos talks about next coach/Leach and Shannon

I think anything we hear about this in the media regarding coaches are things that all parties want the media to say.  We all want to know all the details of a coach search, but in reality, that's not how negotiations take place.

I don't put much stock in either sides statements.  The real deal is behind the scenes.

Angelos may know we have no shot but it sure gets fans excited about the time we need to sell tickets, etc.  Shannon's reps may want to make it known Shannon wants the Arizona job, but if it fell through, and he took the FAU job, they would say:  After looking at FAU we decided this is a great university and a great opportunity, etc., and everyone would then say:  That's great he really does want the job…blah blah blah.

It's all fan manipulation IMHO…and thats what fans demand in most cases!

Just below that blog, it said a UM/FAU home /home series was possible...Thats a nice home game sellout for us if that happens...

I'm still hoping to win the lottery in the next few weeks so I can donate a few million to the program and we hire a coach now!!!!

I think Angelos has done a great job with the Athletics programs.  Im not to sure what happened a while back when BYU was trying to recruit him but it was my impression he turned down a nice offer from them to stay here with us.  As for Shannon, I think his stay here would be half coaching half working on his resume to get out.

Shannon would be a huge mistake.

Leach doe not have to take a huge pay cut for here, just make pay based upon attendance. His team is good and exciting we sell out and he makes lots of cash. We need to expand stadium, he and his staff get additional bonus.

His team sucks and does not sell seats, he does not - as it should be!

I was told that is how ECU signed Skip Holtz and he did very well with that contract as did ECU.

If Leach would agree to the same it would be a win for everyone.
