This new bowl at least gives more spots in the bowls to fill. Remember 2yrs ago, the SBC had two bowl teams(Troy and N. Texas) because some of other conferences couldn't fill their bowl allotment with bowl-eligible teams. This at least gives the SBC two extra chances for other teams not to qualify.
