Any of You Owls coming to Clemson?

Greetings Owls Fans. I'm a CU Tiger and I was just wondering if any of you were going to make the trek up to Clemson? We'd love for you guys to come check out the Valley, and I'm sure you'd find alot of hospitable tigers ready to offer you some BEvERages. From the looks of the board here, it seem you have some pretty knowlegable football fans. I've been impressed by how quickly you've gotten the program going. Good luck with this season and GO TIGERS ;)

Any of You Owls coming to Clemson?

We have a carload of people going up to Clemson for the weekend. Can't wait to experience Death Valley (and the tailgating) in person. We are also staying right downtown so we can soak up even more "atmosphere" after the game.

Any suggestions on hot spots tigerpaw?

The ESSO Club is a MUST. It's an old Esso (Exxon) station turned bar, and has been listed as one of the best college bars in the country (ESPN, SI, etc.) You should also Check out Tiger Town Tavern, Backstreets, and TD's. Also, Explorer's, just down the street from the Esso, has some decent wings (avoid the plutonium wings… you'll have to sign a waiver to eat them). Some of the best Tailgating is in Lot 4, next to the Jervey Athletic Center and the baseball field. It's typically a younger crowd, and as such, can be a little more rowdy than the high-dollar lots right next to the stadium. Just walking around the tailgating lots with your Owl's gear on should get you some invitations for beers and talking football. When you're done partying and bar-hopping that night (bars must close at midnight on Saturdays in SC) head over to Peppino's Pizza. It stays open past midnight for the bar crowd, and has some good Sicilian and Neapolitan Pizza… better than you typically find down south (except South Florida, I've been down there and experienced some of the good food you guys have due to some of the transplants ;-) ) If the line's too long, you can also hit Todaro's Pizza across the street… good pizza, too, but I like Peppino's better. If you have time, ask someone how to get to Macs on Friday. It's a total hole-in-the-wall dive, grease-pit type of burger joint, but its good (and expect BAD service, it's part of the charm of the place.)

Any of You Owls coming to Clemson?

Hey Tigerpaw, I'll be up for the Clemson game. I witnessed a game there in '01 with my alma mater UCF. We gave you guys a good game but came out on the losing end. I spent most of my drinking time at Tiger Town Tavern when i was there and i was obviously surprised and dissapointed when they kicked us out after 12. But I will be sure to go back there. Are there any late night establishments that can stay open after 12? One other question for you paw, what is the event known as when they have a kind of parade before the game starts for the first game of the seson. I remember all the sororities walking down a street towards the stadium. Is that a yearly tradition? I think i must have tailgated in lot 4 last time because the crowd you described is one that i remember.

In SC, you have to have a special alcohol license to serve after midnight on Saturday Night/Sunday Morning. IIRC, Tiger Town Tavern has an upstairs (you enter from an exterior door right Next to the main entrance of the bar), but you have to buy a "membership" for about $10.00. Even after that, it probably only stays opened until 2:00 AM.

As for the parade, that's the First Friday Parade, and it happens every year. Typically there's sororities in their colorful T-shirts, and Fraternities doing everything from riding a flatbed trailor, to walking covered in Kudzu, to pulling a Chariot with their president "driving" (must be the PKA's) It's usually pretty good for kids, as everyone's tossing candy to them. I'm not sure when it starts, but I can find out if anyone's interested.

Before every game the band marches across campus with the cheerleaders, around and into the stadium. I'm sure some of the Sorority girls tag along, b/c that's the general direction that everyone who lives on campus has to go to get to the stadium.
