Anyone else upset?

Post

Guess what. This will continue to happen. We didn't get selected a main reason is because bowls want full stadiums… We can't even fill up our own. No reason for this. This will not change until you show up.

That's not really the case.  Lots of teams that have attendance issues are going bowling.  The problem is that you can't be 6-6, bunched together with a lot of other bowl eligible teams, and have poor attendance and expect to get an open spot.  If we had 7 wins, we'd have a much better case.

It actually is a big part of it.

Not a BIG part of it.  The biggest problem was Pitt, Syracuse, and Miss State getting to 6 wins.  We weren't getting a spot over any of them.

Well, we do show up. I doubt people who follow this messageboard regularly are missing many home games. We're not the problem.

It's the 20k+ people who attended our stadium's opening day but haven't been to a game since then that are the real problem. Where did all those people go?

But you're right: attendance is huge. There were rumors of bowl officials at the last two home games gauging our attendance. They couldn't have been impressed.

So moving forward we have to focus on securing a bowl by contract based upon our conference standing. We're not a sexy at-large.

I am not upset…we were 6-6.  Good season, just not enough this year.

Making the move to CUSA is great for FAU…six potential bowl games, versus the one we used to play for, it's a great opportunity…we were seventh on the list, no one to blame but Pelini  :Big-Grin:  could've been a 9 win team this year though, now we know, get a guaranteed spot, otherwise there are no guarantees.

And Doc is right, telling the crazies that post on this board to show up to the games is preaching to the choir

Were you there, did you not see the PATHETIC team we put on the field that day. SHUTOUT at not only your home opener but your "HOME" opener! And not by Kentucky (ha ha) but by Western Kentucky. I love Howard but THAT WAS SOME AWFUL FOOTBALL BACK THEN!

To sell tickets in South Florida with it's literally hundreds of options every wekend, you need to not only win but win with ENTERTAINING FOOTBALL. I pray we are still headed in that way!

Disappointed we did not get a bowl invite, but very optimistic about our programs future. I agree, CUSA was a good move, we showed we can play with teams like Marshall, Tulane and others who might be moving to a better conference. Our biggest issue was Pelini, and the dumb play calling at the end of games this year.  We have a great stadium and talent that will be coming back next year. We win, more and more will show up to games. Baby step folks.

Disappointed? For the seniors, yes I am but when the dust settles we can say we have a good team to cheer for and I'm thankful for that. If you would've told me this time last year that we'd be competitive and mentioned for a bowl game I'd have been ecstatic. The Owls has proven that they belong in CUSA. Lets make noise in 2014!
