Are we exactly where we should be in this point of the season?

Talk about us being ranked is nice. I didn't have much faith after UCF (was more sure the earth was flat), but it could be a possibility. We really shouldn't lose again. This is such a great time for the leaders of the team and the team as a whole to just not accept losing. One key word from Weiss was that Robison is playing fast. It's one thing to have a great arm, but too also go through your reads fast, that's when you're NFL ready.

We finished ‘17 9-3 and barely missed out on a top 25 ranking at the end. Especially if we win out, no reason why we can’t. Next year could be interesting with the schedule not as daunting. We’ve got good history against  Minn and USF is a dumpster fire right now. We would also have a lot of returning talent (but we saw how that went last year) an undefeated season would be stellar and Lane would probably be gone afterwards

Not exactly on point, but I heard a crazy stat on the radio this morning about Ohio State.  The Buckeyes have only had 7 series of 3-and-out in their first 5 games!  I went and looked, and FAU caused 2 of those.  So no matter what anybody says, based on the first 5 games FAU has played what some “experts” are now calling the most complete team in college football better than anybody they have faced - especially if you consider how the Owls played after settling down.  So outside of the first quarter in that game and pretty much all of the UCF game, FAU is having a good first half of the season.

Just repeating the same winning percentage the rest of the way would be 7 wins, and the 2 tough games (on paper) left on the schedule are certainly not as tough as the 2 toughest games we have already played.

That is interesting throwing out there the possibility of going undefeated next year. I’ve been waiting so long to Finally not have a freaking body bag game for what I thought was a couple years until I heard about the Florida game in ‘21. But even the schedule in ‘21 isn’t as bad as the last few years. At least UF is close and It’s at least a school that presumably won’t be a playoff contender. I say what if we’re 11-3 again but a bowl game win against a P5 or really good G5. That would be razor close for the top 25. Even if we jud5 have a decent year and go 9-4 the hype for next year will be insane if Kiffin and Robison come back. Robison is 8th in the country in passing yards with a 12-2 td to int ratio.

Fleck is at Minnesota.

Minnesota wont be the Minnesota you are thinking.

They will beat us by 28.  It's a paycheck game.  Telling you all now.

We lose almost all our front 7...they are going to be much better on the line and just dominate the game.  Side bets are open now on that if anybody wants it.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

2016 Trio of Hot Coaches and Where They Are Now vs Kiffin

PJ Fleck is 17-13 mid-way through year three at Minny (.567)

Scott Frost is 8-10 mid-way though year two at Nebraska (.444)

Tom Herman is 21-11 mid-way though year three at Texas (.656)

The only guy to note (for now) is Herman…the other two aren't going anywhere soon, unless it is out the door.

This just goes to show that, despite potential hype (Fleck & Frost), it does take a true coach to advance to the next level and maintain the prowess.

That said…

Lane Kiffin is 19-12 mid-way though year three year three (.613) and if all goes well might surpass Herman given what the Longhorns will have to do to maintain the percentage.

I think Minny is undefeated so far this year and the talk is that now that he has his guys in they are legit. Not beating Whisky or OSU but top tier in that division which is what Minnesota fans want.  They could be 10-2 for sure.

Let’s hope he gets another job.

They have played literally no one and struggled in 4 of their 5 games…

They are, with the following:

Win over South Dakota State 28-21 - no joke, as they are a top FCS team - period

Win over Georgia Southern 35-32 - SBC team

Win over Fresno State 38-35 (2OT) - Road victory, but the Bulldogs are mediocre this year

Win over Purdue 38-31 - Road victory, Boilermakers may be the best win despite their record

Win over Illinois (2-3) 40-17
