Ark. St. Alum Cleo Lemon

I'm sure a lot of others out there are Dolphins fans as well as Owls fans. I for one would like to know a little more about our brand new third string QB, Cleo Lemon, AKST alumni. He was there 97-2000. Give us some inside info if you can AKST fans.
Thank god we got rid of Feeley, what a bust that was.

when he was here, he was basically a pocket passer, he wasn't very mobile at all as a freshman, but has improved in that aspect and he has a strong arm.

Cleo was in former coach Joe Hollis first signing class.

Hollis pulled his redshirt about halfway through his first season and I think that was a huge mistake because our line that year and the next was pitiful and he got sacked way too much.

Career yardage leader at ASU with 7,309 (not shabby given he was career -445 rushing thanks to the O-line and his own inclination to slide or step out of bounds). Career completion leader with 551. Had the #2, 3, 5, 6, and 8th best single game passing yardage efforts. 1st and 4th best seasons passing. Shattered career passing yardage mark with 7,706. Had two 15 TD pass seasons and one 13 TD season, #1 on career chart with 48. Threw 33 picks.

Greatest game at ASU he led ASU to 21 unanswered points in the final 13 minutes to force OT against NMSU. Likely would have be 24 if his favorite recieving target had gone out of bounds late instead of trying to get more yards. ASU won in OT. His greatest game would have been at NC State against Philip Rivers but ASU went for it on 4th and 1 at the goal and got stuffed. NC State managed to drive far enough for the game tying FG and then beat ASU in the second OT.

Very nice arm. Got a bad rep for avoiding hits (in the NFL that is usually considered good) but we later learned he was injured most of his last two seasons.

While at San Diego, Lemon was quite mobile….that went nicely with an accurate, powerful arm. He has a cannon for an arm.

After this past preseason, I found a Chargers message board and the QB controversy had begun. A good following were pulling for Lemon to take the starting position. (I'll post the link when I get to work.)

I didn't see any of the Charger faithful that was happy with the trade.
Checkout some older threads……around the time of preseason play, and you'll see a lot of Lemon talk.
