Article on Mike Leach - Interesting

Ever been to New Mexico? It actually has a lot to offer.

GO OWLS!!!

Actually, yes I have. Went to visit a friend a few years back in Las Cruces. There was literally nothing to do there! You want to go out and have a good time, you're driving into El Paso, Texas.

I've heard that Albuquerque is a lot of fun though and has a great night life

Guess it just depends what you are into… my brother lives in Albuquerque and loves it. But he and his wife are into the outdoor activities; hiking, kayaking, camping, skiing, etc…

Las Cruces is the Ocala of New Mexico. Northern New Mexico is actually very nice. Lots to do there and the scenery is spectacular.

GO OWLS!!!

Re: Article on Mike Leach - Interesting

Northern New Mexico is particularly nice: Santa Fe and Taos are primo vacation destinations. You also have the mountains, great art galleries (and museums), beautiful scenery, generally low humidity and excellent skiing, as well as the usual other outdoors pursuits. The restaurant scene in Taos is superb, and in Santa Fe it is almost as good. None of this is cheap, however. If you want a place with a lot of bars, many of them nondescript, and all you seek is a cheap drunk, you would be better advised to go to El Paso, Texas, which is just a little beyond the New Mexico line. If you want an even cheaper drunk and you want to risk running into the drug cartels, cross the border at El Paso and try Ciudad Juarez in Mexico. (Good luck with that.) But do not underestimate Northern New Mexico as a great place.

Sounds like Colorado but everything has a Spanish name…

Right you are. Even Colorado has many Spanish names, of course. And 'colorado' itself means 'red' in Spanish. (It's a variation; 'rojo' also means 'red' in Spanish.)

We could never afford Leach even if UCLA was not an option for him.

Jim Leavitt is more realistic.
