I like Mark "Obesity Lives Here" Mangino, Turner Gill, and recently released Pat Hill from Fresno State. All are probably far too expensive for FAU to hire with a probable $100,000 budget for OC.

GO OWLS!!!

Will be curious to see who from the current staff stays on.

For sentimental reasons, I'd like to see Jarred Allen stick around, although unfortunately, I have no evidence to suggest he's a good QB coach.

I was trying to figure out if the talent sucked that bad, or he was that bad a QB coach…..or a combination of the two.

This was Allens first year as QB coach.  I dont think Otto Graham could come back from the dead and teach Wilbert how to Quaterback.

Keep him on and give him a chance with a QB that has at least a little bit of talent before judging him.

Re: Assistant Coaches Carl Pelini Could Hire

I would really like to see Allen on this staff because I sense that he is really connected to recruits in the area and can sell them on the fact that he use to be play for the Owls and his young.

That being said, I think Allen can someday be a head coach and for him to do that he will need more exposure to different programs and coaching styles. If you really think about it, he played at FAU, was a GA here, got his first job here, etc.

Um… under QB coach Jarad Allen, FAU finished 111th out of 120 teams in passing and our starting QB statistically finished dead last.

And you think that warrants Allen to stay? Come on man! You only want him to stay because he played for FAU, not because he can coach. Just let him go to another program, prove himself there, and hopefully he comes back to FAU a better coach. But for now, we need to cut the cord and let him go.

So Runningbacks coach David Serna should have been praised in your mind?  Its not as black and white as you are making it seem.  Just because Serna had Alfred Morris doesn't make him a good coach and just because Jared Allen had Graham Wilbert doesn't make him a bad coach.

Its kind of like the Indianapolis Colts coach…everybody thought he was great…until Peyton was on the sidelines and now they are the worst team in the NFL…is he a good coach or bad coach?

Giver Jared Allen a bigger body of work.  For the $45k we pay our QB coach I dont think we will find anybody that will do a better job and care more about our program.  I would like to see him work his way through the ranks as well.

So you would rather keep an unproven QB coach, than have Pelini bring a proven one in?

I have talked to Allen, seen him coach at practice, heard from former players that played under him and seen him interact one on one with recruits.

Pelini is going to need someone that already knows who FAU has been recruiting this far and Allen would be the perfect fit. Recruits love  Allen and rave about him. He 'gets' modern day recruiting.

So I'm not saying lets keep him because he is this great coach, I just think he would fit a need in this upcoming staff.
