Away Game Watch Parties - New Location Idea

I don't think they are putting a Hooters up anywhere near campus, there was one on glades a few years back, but the City of Boca shut it down because it didn't fit in with "Boca-ness" of Boca Raton…too risque, as I recall.

If I were in charge of arranging this, which I'm not, I would not keep it off limits to anyone.  Maybe give a discount to FAUNAA members.  But in no way would I alienate anyone from coming to the event.

Agreed,

Dont force people who arent members to make a choice. Offer an incenitve if you want but I could pretty much gurantee at this point in our VERY young fanbase FAU cant afford to alienate ANYONE who might want to be a fan and watch.

Hooters is going back into boca. Basically behind its old location where Mario's used to be.

Not sure on opening date.

Re: Away Game Watch Parties - New Location Idea

to some of the points made:
I agree with not alienating anyone from entering any potential watch party. But to Sigep77: why alienate students, then? And who's to say students aren't professional? The prOWLers regularly attended the watch parties at Gatsby's in 2006 and the fans LOVED that we sang the fight song and got everyone pumped up.

I'm not an engineer, but could we run a cord from the Student Union to the Alumni Center? Based on previous experience, this is what it would take.

I honestly hope we could make this happen. I think it's a fantastic idea. But logistically, it may not be possible.

Thank you, i thought i recalled a thread about it a few weeks ago.  Just last week when i was back home i went up to Towson University (Maryland).  They have a place called "Bill Bateman's" It's a Maryland chain of pub/restaurant.  It was amazing seeing how alive it was with students, professors, and people from around town there for trivia, food, or drink specials.  I couldn't help but think "Damn i wish we had something like this down at FAU!"  Of course they had a full liquor license and Towson has more students on campus and so on.

I agree with Smitty, no way you separate alumni and students. Remember at some point the students will be alumni and you want them to come back and donate and join the FAUNAA. If you alienate them when they're students they're going to say "why should I support my school when I wasn't good enough to watch a football games with the alumni" then you'll have a situation where all the new alumni don't want to be involved with FAU anymore.

And yes Hooters is coming back. There's a sign on the window that says "coming soon Hooters" no date or anything and it looks like they're doing work inside. Hooters and 5 guys Burgers & Fries

Hooter's next to Lockhart is good on home game days, but never really checked it out on a away game day. Coyote Jack's….horrible. Duffy's (either spot) wasn't too bad. Something on campus would be pretty nice…

Re: Away Game Watch Parties - New Location Idea

I think the watch party at the alumni center would be a good idea. Think of the money you spend at one of the watch parties right now, if you return that money back to the University its win win for the school as a whole and you get to see the game. Also it would be a set location and we wouldn't have the problem like last year where they announce one place only to show the game at another. On the grounds of the students I think the only problem would be if they are serving alcohol how to control not serving to minors. Its a good idea to start the tradition now and to know where to go.

Well with the alcohol aspect they would have to ID those who want to drink. Smitty would probably know more about this then I would. I assume whoever is serving the alcohol can also ID whoever wants to drink. I've never been in there but maybe there's a separate room or section where they can keep the alcohol so if you want it you have to go there and show ID
