Back To Basics

Guys what can one say? After watching this, I'm embarrased for all of  FAU football fans. This team, this coaching staff needs a revamping, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The O seems to have problems with the simpliest of things, snapping the ball, blitz pick ups, moving their feet to be in position to pass block and yes play selection. Our DE's look like they are trying to block the OT instead of get pass him when pass rushing. Our LB's can't TACKLE worth a darn. They reach, jump out of the front of a ball carrier and the "majority" of their TACKLES are made 5-7 yards up field. Whatever happen to LB's sticking their head/nose up in the hole meeting the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage and then letting the best man win? I've said all season that these guys just can't do the simpliest but most important thing; TACKLE!! We can't TACKLE! If you can't/don't TACKLE, then you get what we got today and against all of the teams that had a decent running game. And the blame goes to the D-line, LB's, DB's and the coaches who keep putting the same guys out there who can't, you guessed it; TACKLE! We just can't TACKLE! Heck kids in pop warner are taught to put their chest on the ball carrier and run through the tackle. Where in the heck do "college" football players learn to run and try to hit (pop) with a shoulder or just reach at a ball carrier to make TACKLES? Reaching breeds missed TACKLES and yes, face mask penalties. If this team doesn't spend the entire off season on working on basic fundamentals, they all should be fired. That's from HS to Owlsy. Also they may want to look at our strength and conditioning program. Did anyone notice the difference in the physiques of the players. Their RB arms/chest were bigger than our D-lines. Their D-Ends look like they could lift the weight room. But it's my understanding that we are into plyometrics. Hmmm, may be a good work out regiment during the season, but during the off seasom, they need to get down with some good ole fashions HEAVY Weight lifting. Troy is the standard in the SBC. If we are to reach that level of consistency, something has to change!
