Beer to be sold during 2014 season at FAU

Post

Exactly Tim! I don't want to pay for something that someone else is getting for free. Makes you rethink at renewal time.

The premium area has been devalued for several years now, so much so my wife and I considered cancelling our season tickets this year and purchasing seats on a game-by-game basis in the same section as it will be less expensive.  All last season there were specials run that were at a lesser cost per ticket for season ticket holders PRIOR to the mandatory donation.  That really needs to stop.  I get we need money and butts in seats but it really is a joke.

Regarding the beer situation, this really needs to not happen and more rigor needs to be put in place to ensure the appropriate people are on the deck and being served.  I like the wrist band idea, however, it must be a rotating band for each game and something of more substance than you can purchase at Party City.

IF alcohol is served stadium wide I foresee a significant incident taking place that will ban alcohol sales stadium wide except for suites.  Universities are not known for making rational decisions, typically they will swing the pendulum too far in a given direction and I would be extremely disappointed if we were to feel the effect of that due to students, visitors or someone sitting in the cheap seats.  I'm not sorry if offend those in the cheap seats.

The only option I would be OK with would be a system in those areas where payment was NOT accepted for alcohol.  Instead, upon purchase of your tickets you received a maximum of two drink tickets to redeem that would be color coded for that game.  Let people enjoy at a certain level and pay up if they want to have more than two drinks.

Just my .02.

@sigep77.. your wife is correct. There are ways to sit in the Hyundai section that are more economical. I choose to pay more. To be  a season ticket holder. And to donate to the school. Beer can be sold anywhere they want to sell it. I don't care. Lets make money. The only thing  I think is unfair is that some of the people in the Hyundai section have not paid there way in. In what ever manner they pay to get in, they need to pay. It is not that big of an issue yet. But it will eventually cause some resentment. And that is something that can be averted very easily. I don't even want to give them any ideas. I'm sure they can come up with something. If I were in charge, I would try to preserve every season ticket holder that I have.

I'm with you and I feel we are on the verge of something good which is why I kept the tix.  Donating isn't that big to me because we donate to a TON of different causes at FAU already, this just seems like another one and it's never a consideration.

There definitely is resentment, especially when people sit all over the section, in other peoples seats and generally get in the way.

Dusky…thoughts on a wristband for the deck? So you come in get your ticket scanned at the gate and then hole punched at the stairs before getting a wristband. No one in the deck without a wristband and only one band per ticket? Seems logical enough.

I feel the same way, if I pay more I'd like to know it was worth it.

That, or they start doing beer delivery drones!

Like Tim said, you punch the ticket and if you leave the deck you have to get a wristband for re-entry.  This way not everyone has to wear it but it will stop the sneaking in (local owl and doc…have you figured it out?).   People pay premium for content and exclusivity, you can sell beer throughout the stadium and still garner a premium for the deck for not only the location but for better service and more options.  Those are the things that I am willing to pay extra for.

I am going to buy the same tickets regardless but I totally understand that the value has to be there for people to continue to pay the premium.  I hope FAU gets this right.   Maybe they should ask some of us what we are willing to pay for and what we value.

GO OWLS!

I believe all of us in the Hyundai Deck are being issued bright Pink boxer shorts to wear this year.  Everyone will know who is supposed to be there...and it makes for a great party atmosphere.

Of course. I knew before we started talking about it.

I'm just at odds with most people about this whole thing so I'll let you guys hash it out.

I know it makes me sound like an old man, but I am with sigep77 here…I think there will be an incident with beer sales throughout the stadium.

We have had enough bad press, there are better ways to make money with less risk.  Keep the alchohol restricted to the higher paying seats and keep that section on lock down.

If an incident happens from people drinking on thier own accord in the parking lot before the game while tailgating, we can handle it.  But from our previoius track record with PR, I think if there were to be an incident due to the alcohol sold by us in our stadium we would fold like a cheap suit.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

+1

Plus FIU announced already that they will sell beer throughout their stadium.  If they came up with the idea, you know it is not a good idea!

I will support it either way, but for me personally, having exclusivity of the amenities on the deck is what makes the stadium and game day experience different from anywhere else and special.
