Mark my words…..there will be an incident and bad press. And Dusky….I'm sure that doc and I understand more than you can imagine.Posted On: Jun 24th 2014, 5:23 PM #332172
There will be no more incidences than any other stadium or venue that serves alcohol…the key is training by the service staff and a strict policy about not over serving or not serving people who are already tanked when they come in to the stadium (actually they should be denied entrance). NON issue.

Every weekend in the fall thousands of drunk people watch football and in college football and the NFL and they haven't found a reason to stop selling alcohol.
Also people that really want to drink and get drunk for football games will no matter what who sells what.
They will either just drink till they black out before the game or just sneak it in.
I would say 1 out of every 3 students sneak alcohol into games. I got an entire box wine into a game last year.
Steve Spurrier once said that LSU is the only place you can smell the bourbon on the field.
Selling beers to the 5k or so that sit on the east sideline and in the north end zone will not cause any problems.

It was a lot more difficult for students to attend games at Lockhart & JRS compared to on campus. I would bet our average attendance is up from when we were at Lockhart also.
I don't recall the riot police being called, but I remember several fights and a few people being asked to leave the stadium.
I'm not against the drinking, I'm against be sold the idea of a privilege or perk and then it being devalued by offering it to everyone. I just believe that if you can't afford to pay for a privilege, you shouldn't overextend yourself or make others feel bad because you can't have it.

I know it makes me sound like an old man, but I am with sigep77 here…I think there will be an incident with beer sales throughout the stadium.
We have had enough bad press, there are better ways to make money with less risk. Keep the alchohol restricted to the higher paying seats and keep that section on lock down.
If an incident happens from people drinking on thier own accord in the parking lot before the game while tailgating, we can handle it. But from our previoius track record with PR, I think if there were to be an incident due to the alcohol sold by us in our stadium we would fold like a cheap suit.Posted On: Jun 24th 2014, 10:49 AM #332154
Why not just stop beer sales to the "outsiders" at halftime? For the people in the Hyundai Deck offer a greater assortment of beer maybe even offer an all you can drink cup. I don't think it's hard to sell beer to the whole stadium and still keep the Hyundai Deck exclusive.

1st thing is that everyone who has access to the Deck MUST get a wristband and that needs to be enforced. Yes it will require more manpower but access to the deck MUST be exclusive and monitored. I say that as one who no longer sits there but used to. IF I recall that was the original plan. Outside deck get one color and inside lounge get another.
Idea 1: Sell only bottles/cans of Bud/Bud light from portable beer stands for the general/student sections of the stadium. Offer higher end on tap beers of multiple types from the deck to provide a better level of service.
Idea 2: Cutoff Beer sales in General/Student seating after half time, but allow sales to continue until the end of the 3rd quarter on the Deck. This will help control the drunk factor of the general fan as well.
Edit: and I see Owlmart beat me to it with almost the exact same scenarios. LOL
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.
