FAUOwl09's Quick Facts on:
University of Florida
Established: 1853
Football fielded: 1906
…
Interesting note about the Swamp. When first founded,
"Florida Field” (as it was first known) was completed in 1930. It was built in a shallow ravine (possibly an old sinkhole) and almost all of the original stands were below ground level. Comprising approximately all of the lower half of today’s east and west stands, the capacity was about 22,000."
yup…
and to further that argument…
Doak Campbell Stadium (in my opinion, the most beautiful stadium in the entire country… my opinion, i understand, but it's still what i feel) used to look like THIS:
That pick is from 1950 when the stadium opened. At the time it had a capacity of 15,000.
GO OWLS!!!

3. FSU
4. Miami
5. UCF
6. FAU
7. FIU
While you guys have achieved a lot in your short history, I hate to break it to you, beating a team that UCF PASTED (we were up 49-0 on the Tigers in our reg. season game) doesn't qualify you to move past UM/FSU/UCF.
You saying your better than the rest of Florida because you won your bowl game is almost as absurd as me saying that UCF was the best team in Florida because we were the only one to get double-digit wins. While I wish that was reality, it just isn't.
Your only BCS win this year came against Minnesota, which went 1-11 and lost to North Dakota State.
Listen, I am from northwest Broward county and grew up 20 mins from FAU, I always hope for them to do well…but to say they have passed UCF (they have world-class facilities and a large fanbase, not to mention they are the 5th or 6th largest school in the country and is not a commuter school) and will get to the Big East first is just crazy-talk.
If the interest which was previously non-existent in the FAU athletics program continues to grow exponentially, then maybe FAU will be ready in about 10 years to make a move to the BCS conference.
If/when UCF bolts C-USA for the Big East, I'm pretty sure FAU will follow into C-USA, and this could happen in say, 3-5 years.

I love it when UCF fans come on here and they talk nonsense.
Let's break it down. You won double digit games in a weaker conference. MTSU, Troy and FAU would have all beaten UCF had we played them in the regular season.
You can say what you want about C-USA but the sunbelt IS a better conference, you can argue till you turn yellow or golden or whatever your color is but we all know Sun belt is better.
In any case… what facts do you have to prove UCF is better? They are a larger school and they have a larger fan base… OK I still don't see where that makes them a better football team? "FAU Is a commuter college" again… how does that make UCF better?
Here are the facts:
FAU played 3 ranked teams, I'm not talking about teams ranked 23,24, and 25. I'm talking 3 teams in the top 15 in the country. UCF ALMOST beat Texas, FAU ALMOST beat USF. FAU while we did get spanked we played Kentucky and UF. We also played Minnesota, while they aren't the powerhouse they once were it was still a win over a BCS conference. How many wins did UCF have over schools from a BCS conference this season?
You Golden Knights fans continue to miss the point.. yes we won our bowl game and you didn't. You've been playing football for 22 more years then we have and you have still YET to win a bowl game. You keep talking about EVERYTHING other then football. FAU may be small now but it's also a lot newer.
From your reasonings if say 10,000 people show up to a UF game does that mean UCF is better then them because they have better attendance? That's the lamest excuse I have ever heard.
I'm not saying we're going to the big east tomorrow especially the way our basketball team has played this season. Let's face it the big east isn't expanding right now and until they come out and say they want to add 2 more teams then we can all speculate who they are. USF has passed you right by so get you used to it because FAU is going to do the same. Especially when the only good player on your team is entering the draft
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

FAU would be favored next season if we played UCF. Couldn't care less about your facilities or size of your schools attendance…USC has 9,000 students?!? Miami doesn't have good facilities?!? You dont need either to be good and having both doesn't make you good.
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Re: best team in fl?
I mention the attendance, the size of the school, and the facilities as far as what UCF brings to the table when it comes to conference expansion. FAU has nothing to compare to that right now.
I also never said that C-USA was a better conference. Sun Belt was marginally better this year. Sure your teams got some wins over mediocre or just plain bad BCS competition (like Minnesota), but you also have to remember that teams like Louisiana-Monroe also manage to lose to North Texas…that kinda cancels it out for me man. That's why I arrive at the conclusion that they are marginally better, and not head-and-shoulders - we are talking about an inch or two better. If the Sun Belt does this again next year and C-USA stinks again…come talk to me.
What ranked teams did sun belt teams beat this year? We may have done bad in bowls, but ECU did win their bowl against a ranked Boise State team.
As far as UCF and FAU playing each other on the field, hate to break it to you guys…but you'd have no chance at the BrightHouse (where we already stopped the one of the nation's leading offenses headed by Tulsa's Paul Smith, twice) where we only lost to texas and won the rest. As for at Lockhart Stadium…USF fans took over your venue, and if you think they'd bring at lot….it would be a neutral field at-best for you guys if you hosted us.

Re: best team in fl?
We've played in Florida, did not show any signs of being intimidated, are you trying to say the Brighthouse would be a more hostile environment?
Ooo such a scary place. Of the six home games you won, the teams were a combined 37-40 record, including Tulsa's 10-4 twice, take them out and you beat 4 teams that combined to go 14-36, that's a joke!
FAU is closing the gap on you and that would bother me too, but I'd find better usage of my time than going on to FAU's message board to beat your chest like an undersized gorilla.

ULM:
Beat ALABAMA…….
AND
beat us…
but that is besides the main point here…one that mirrors your name, which i like - "Reality":
we will talk again next year…but not to you…you guys are in big trouble…NOBODY will carry the load Smith did (no pun intended)…if you win 5 game snext year i would be surprised…
you had better Hope your passing game develops between now and August…
nonetheless, it certainly seems to me that cUsA continues to be wekaer than The SBC again next year…….
