Best way too early guess on wins for 2012?

What is your best guess for FAU wins in the 2012 season?

0-2 wins - Suckdom
3-4 wins - Some progress
5-6 wins - Big Improvement
7-8 wins - Game changing year
9 or more wins - possible poster drug testing required

You must select between 1 and 39 options

And we need to start doing what FIU is doing and have some of these Big 6 teams play us at home.

I agree, if we have to play three BigSix OOC games then one a year should be at home - our home IS SO MUCH BETTER than FIU's High school stadium sort of conversion (part of it is still there). After all, is that not one of the main reasons we built it?

I'll say 3 or 4, new offense, new defense the older guys will struggle and the younger guys are well, young…Towards the end of the season they will all pick it up

This is a fair estimate. I have low expectations. I think the program is headed in the right direction, absolutely, but there will be growing pains. FAU may endure a 4-8 season, people may say, "Oh FAU still sucks, just a little less this time" because the casual fan won't understand how difficult it is to cobble this all together.

Then again, new coaches have come into the SBC this year and turned stagnant teams into winners. So it could be done, absolutely. ASU, WKU and FIU will want to keep their momentum while Troy and FAU will be trying to climb back to the top, etc - and it's not like CP is the only new horse in the race.

Going to be an interesting season.

The reason I think 5-7 is a worse case is that we won 1 game last year with an abomination of a coaching staff and players that just didn't care.  I think we can muster up at least 4 more wins more than last season with this schedule.

I agree. I still wish we were not playing Alabama or Georgia this year… I know it pays the bills but giving yourself 2 almost automatic losses isnt the way to build a team.

I would guess that CP will use those to let players know what it takes to be the best '- "that's where we're aiming boys."

Yeah, Howard used that line too, and I know the kids like playing those programs because they are playing against the best of the best.

But man its hard on a fan to watch your team get drubbed and not even compete against thier 3rd stringers.  Every year it seems we start out 0-3 and the casual fan isnt going to care. Hopefully with a warm up against Wagner and a winnable game against Navy we can go 2-2 OOC. That would help perception A LOT.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

All depends on the QB.  We could go 8-4 if we have somebody that can execute the offense at QB or 1-11 if we dont.  Get the QB spot sured up and everything else will fall into place.

Aside from QB I am most worried about RB and DL.  Anybody have any input on that?

With the heavy losses on the D side for many Belt programs, especially in the D backfield (Arky St. loses all 4!, MTSU, ULL and NT lose 3 and Troy loses 2), plus Navy loses 7 D starters including 2 db's. That and never seeing our O before will make all of those very winable games. Add in Wagner on the schedule and I say 5 wins minimum and up to 8.

I say 6-6 and a bowl invite..Hey I can dream. ;D
I bet we see two or more QB's using multiple offensive formations, at least until a leader emerges. I'm not too concerned about the RB position. I've seen No. 22 Damian Fortner in action…dude can move. Not sure on the DL though.

I agree! All depends on whoever the QB is, and man do I hope it is German or Flessner. I think 8-4 is very obtainable just look at ULL this. They were 3-9 in 2010, but finished 9-4 this season.  With the talent we are bringing in and the dedication so far from the coaching staff I see us winning at least 5 games.

Of the BCS games that we're playing does anyone think maybe we can steal one, Navy??? or at least keep it competitive against them and can stop calling them "Advanced training games"?

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!
