Big East reps at Troy game

Here's another thing to consider about attendance, how much would our attendance be efected if we did move to the BE - I see a BiG increase, fans would more likely come to see a USF, Louisiville, WVU, UConn, etc, then any SBC, even Troy (no offense Bmarkey) & USF in MHO had a similar occurrance when they joined the BE from C-USA.  It just makes sense in this South Florida market & I think we would draw 20-25K on a consistent basis if we where in the BE - conference affiliation does matter.

Re: Big East reps at Troy game

I would like to see Troy move up with us. They have a great football team from what BMarkey describes updated facilities. I would like to at least have them move up with us if we are even being discussed. It would be nice to have another former Sun Belt team in there and continue that rivalry. Then 20 years from now when both schools are power houses in college football we can talk about the times when we were both in the Sun Belt together. I know before the games we all talk smack about Troy but I think everyone on here has a mutual respect for them and their athletics and I wish them the best just not when they play us.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Big East reps at Troy game

I wish the FAU people would have had a chance to mingle a bit when they came to Troy. The Troy fans are very welcoming. They haven't been at I-A and are just learning how the bigtime works i terms of fan support, cheering, attendance and more. Troy people don't easily get full of themselves, like our friends from Orlando, at the drop of a hat.

Tailgating is lots of fun and there are very different areas for it - from the Pace Quad (where the Greeks and many students party in large tents with furniture, live bands, huge TVs and even cable), to the Sartain field next to the arena (where many of the reserved seat people and RVs park), to Tailgate Terrace (above the closed end zone, where much food, organizations and kid's and family activities are held).

The FAU tailgate was kid of out of the way and many visitors did not get a chance to see the really nice, old south campus. But the Owls did pack the Barnes & Noble and adjacent Starbuck's.

I would love to see Troy move up to the B.E., but hear very little talk of it. Troy fans would even go for CUSA, despite the fact that it is not a step up in other than bowl ties and some regional rivalry possibilities.

All year long I've been saying that if Troy continues on the path its going, it should be the next one out of the Sun Belt. It woul dbe nice if FAU and Troy could move together, even if it's laterally.
