Wow, Guess I hit a nerve with the merchandising, but we all seem to agree. We are starting to get a little better and having some more selections, as far as apparal goes, but most of it is still crap. I mean the bowl and championship shirts are plain and cheesy looking, thats our best acheivment and thats all someone could come up with? Of course I bought one, because I'm a fan, but it's still cheesy. I think a big problem that some of the out of town alumni like me have is the bookstore hours. I can only get down there on the weekends, and they are closed usually. The website has gotten better, but it still does not have everything the store has.

Re: Big East Rumblins?
that competitive edge is coming from a combination of great talent on the field and exceptional coaching.
we play most of our games on the road, so having "new facilities" isn't going to change that.
as long as we remain as strong as we are, and continue to strive for championships, the time will come when we will get both an offer and a stadium.
my concern is that, as we push forth toward those goals, we retain our coaches to continue to develop that sort of tradition. if we start winning more and more, that is going to attract kind of attention that can dismantle our leadership.
there is going to have to be quick decisions made in upgrading our national status and facilities simultaneously, if this becomes the case.

i would like you to consider the fact that we are competitive enough to humble just about any team we face, in football.
I appreciate the enthusiasm but that statement is completely false. We haven't done much humbling outside of the SBC. We did beat Minnesota (they went 1-11). We also played tight against a vastly overrated USF team. Beyond that we have been on the wrong end of some serious beatings to non-conference opponents. We are getting more competetive each year but lets not get ahead of ourselves.
GO OWLS!!!

Agreed. There are many teams that would run all over us.
I think we are competitive with nearly any mid-major team, including teams from Conference USA.
The Florida's, Ohio State's, LSU's still have a leg up on us. But when you have recruiting classes which consistently include the top guys in the nation, that's the kind of team you can produce.
Grinders are nice and necessary at our level but 20 years from now I sure hope we're able to get serious attention from 4 and 5 star guys.

are you kidding me? you don't think that we couldn't dominate this conference, too?
we could take down the sunbelt, conference usa, and the big east!
the difference being that at the end of the year, we we to play in a bowl for >$350,000 and an opportunity to uspset some hotshot program that has lost it's hunger.

You're crazy. Did you watch football at all last season? While we did well in the Sunbelt and with OOC weak teams, we did not beat a good high caliber team. I am hopeful that in the coming season we might beat a couple, but how we would do against CUSA is debatable (don't even bring up details, you would only be asking for trouble), and the Big East, yeah right, what are you smoking?

Against West Virginia, Connecticut, Cincinnati, and Rutgers? I seriously doubt it, but you'd more than likely have your way with Pitt and Cuse and have a chance with Louisville and USF. The Big East isn't a pushover conference as some people like to think (not implying anyone here believes this, just in general some people hold this image of them.)

To say we'd dominate the Big East, is a bit of an exaggeration.
