More on the Troy State Noise Penalty - UCF Football - YouTube
I remember jumping up and down with my toddler daughter (now at FAU) on my shoulders.
That had to be the largest and loudest I have ever heard of for a D-II game. It was the first time I remembered thinking, "This is what it's like to see your team in a real I-A atmosphere."
I think the AP reported after that game (or maybe it was the playoff seminfinal the year before) that there were 12,000 to 14,000 Troy fans there (many from Florida). Those games were UCF attendance record makers and it's a real shame the series ended.
I think that was the only time I saw Troy lose to UCF.
One of those rivalry games was at night and was postponed by a nasty storm. It was played after a long delay and didn't finish until around midnight or later. I remember it was the last time I heard the Troy band play the old fight song, "Dixie", under the bleachers at the Tangerine (Citrus) Bowl.
