Bo Williams (UF) to FAU?

Another thread here talking about it here, with less than complimentary remarks about our program (not surprising considering it's Gator fans):

I've read a thousand other comments like those on the gator board. It still perturbs me no less when people call a 7 y/o program "mediocre". Especially only two eligible years in D1A.

Don't take it personally.  I've never seen a more thin-skinned, bandwagon-laden fanbase than UF's.  Not all of them, of course, but enough of them so that I don't bother trying to sort them out anymore, and I certainly don't give them the benefit of the doubt in any discussion.

There were rumors on the gatorcountry.com that running back Bo Williams from the gators was transferring to FAU.

link…

If you google Bo Williams and FAU there is a thread on the gatorcountry message board about it.  It is basically someone saying he has heard from his family that he is transferring to FAU.  It was well reported that he is in fact transferring and he is from South Florida, so this info seems like it can be legit.  Hopefully it is true.  You can never have enough great athletes, especially an athlete of Williams caliber.

We should make a scrapbook of all those quotes for the 2011 game.  They better pray that we never beat them.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Re: Bo Williams (UF) to FAU?

If Bo Williams came to FAU he'd be by far the biggest player on recruting scene FAU has ever landed.

He was rated by (our beloved) Rivals as the 16th best back in the country last year.  He was heavily courted by FSU, Louisville, Nebraska, South Carolina then sported offers from some more of the best programs in the country such as Auburn.

I'd assume as a transfer he'd enroll in January so we should know shortly if there is any truth to this.

Re: Bo Williams (UF) to FAU?

This post doesn't have much to do with Bo Williams but I think if FAU can luckily get some of these big name recruits to come to FAU it will improve the program rapidly.  The reality is we dont' want them b/c of problems with law or school, but I know big time transfers could really help the program.

USF has benifitted greatly from this.

Re: Bo Williams (UF) to FAU?

Is there any harder evidence williams may transfer to Fau other than from a message board because i have heard UCf was a big possibility for williams as well.

FWIW I read that UCF told Williams they didnt' have space.  Again from a message board.  Take it for what its worth.

Re: Bo Williams (UF) to FAU?

Rival's guy says that he will announce his choice next week…considering a few schools in FL right now…in the meantime, found this online…Hope we land this guy…would set us apart from the rest of the SBC pack in the backfield - definitively:

"Evaluation: Williams is one of the most complete backs in this entire class. He has size, speed, agility, quickness and power. He is one of the few backs who can pound the ball inside and be a big play threat on the perimeter on the very next play. He has a similar running style to Seahawks RB Shawn Alexander– fast, aggressive and physical. He is very well built and tall. He shows exceptional foot quickness and excellent speed. He shows that he has good vision and he has the patience to let the play develop in front of him. When he has an opening he has the ability to burst into a second gear and he has the stop and start capabilities to get out of some tight situations. He has the speed to be able to turn the corner consistently on the toss play and he can break a play to the outside once he is through the line of scrimmage. He has very good elusiveness when he gets into the secondary and he shows that he has the ability to make people miss. He runs with a good low pad level and he will run over you just as easily as he is capable of juking you. He can be a real force in short yardage and goal line situations when he has to put his shoulder down and get the tough yards. Shows power and strength to push the pile if needed. He has adequate hands and he can catch the ball away from his body and he is a threat when he gets the ball in space. He has the running ability to create mismatches with linebackers and some defensive backs. At times he will not always appear fluid and smooth, is aggressive and can be herky-jerky with his movements. Overall, Williams is a workhorse with big play ability and few players possess that combination."

Re: Bo Williams (UF) to FAU?

Only concern is that he will be attempt to be a prima donna in an offense that tends to spread the wealth.  If he is a team player then this a great pick up and a talented running back will only increase out offensive threat options.
