Bulldoze the Stadium and stone the coaches

I am sick of how "soft" some of us come off as. I will not personally attack anyone! HOWEVER…I refuse to be in the stands with tissues, patting the team, coaches and staff on the back saying, "it's okay boys…..there is next year."

This board is intended for us to voice our opinions. It is an outlet…a way of sounding off. Many of us have become too soft and think it is UNACCEPTABLE to speak negatively about this program. If we can't handle adversity and people calling for Coach to step down or be fired…..if we can't handle outbursts of how terrible we have gotten…

Well then….we are SOFT. For so long this program enjoyed success. Much of which was taken for granted! We SUCK right now plain and simple!!! The coaches especially…the players….the AD….the staff… IT ALL SUCKS. Am I still an Owls fan for life? YES. Will I be out there at our unnamed stadium every home game (another issue)? YES. Will I stay quiet at the risk of upsetting a Howard loyalist and someone who isn't a realist? NO!

Those of us who are negative or voice it on here would NOT be here doing so if we didn't care about this program. If you sign on to any team's Rivals board I guarantee that the negativity on just ONE interception would blow our collected negativity away! It is part of the deal. When things are crap… we will scream and complain. When they are great… we will stand together and celebrate. My point is…

It is part of being a fan!

Re: Bulldoze the Stadium and stone the coaches

Who is saying you can't talk negatively or call for change when the team isn't winning?!  I haven't seen one post telling you not to do that. I'm with you….are team has been terrible, the coaching has been questionable, and the recruiting has been awful for a few years now…But NEWSFLASH!! Coach is leaving after this year…so are the rest of the coaches. What more do you want to happen here?? How much more accountable can people be? Everyone you are complaining about is about to be gone. That's what I am confused about.

If there was no plan in place already, I'd be right there with you demanding a change be made….I'd probably be leading the charge. But this has already been decided. Change is coming. I'm sorry, I'm not going to waste my time angrily calling for change that is already on its way. Does that make me less of a fan?

With that said, there is no reason that THIS WEEK has to be negative. This is the week I, and I know all of you, have been waiting for since the program started. If you can't take one week off from raging against a regime that is already on it's way out the door, to celebrate the man who's vision got this stadium built in the first place, well then I feel sorry for you.  Commemorating your past is also part of being a fan.

I do agree….bulldozing is WAY too much….but how about a statue with Howard's accomplishments and stats…excluding this year!

You show up to the games and support our Owls…. you can say whatever you want as far as I'm concerned…

Re: Bulldoze the Stadium and stone the coaches

And the fact is there isn't ONE candidate for the next HC job that will take the position until the end of the year, so you're wasting your breath. Perhaps it feels better to rage on an internet forum, and if so, keep on doing it.

Infact, I've secretly been happy that our board has finally gotten to be a lot like EVERY other college football forum on the internet…for too long we were all cordial with each other and all supporting the Owls in unison. FINALLY we've gotten big enough to attract all kinds of fans, each with their own opinions. The poster above is right, our board is mild compared to others.

back to my point, there isn't a person on the market right now that will accept the FAU job without waiting to see what else happens this year. You like to begrudge Angelos for not making a hire right away…you tell me if you were Mike Leach or Terry Bowden or anyone else we're dreaming of hiring, would you take a job right now without hearing everyone else out? Did you know UCLA is looking for a coach? Do you know how much more money and resources UCLA will give their next HC? I'm not signing a thing until that job has been filled AT LEAST. Unless T Boone Pickens gets an Ocean Engineering degree in his free time, we're not going to have the cash to compete with the big boys, let them take what they want and we'll get the rest.

Now back to your regurlary scheduled vitriol…  ;D

Re: Bulldoze the Stadium and stone the coaches

Well the thing is, no one is being held accountable. Of course everyone is appreciative of what Howard did. Yes, even Owlcountry40. He may not be able to spell cat if you spotted him the C and the T but he does know a lot about college football and of course he appreciates everything Howard has done for us.

What I think people aren't understanding is there's not 1 FAU fan on this board who doesn't appreciate what he did. Most of us are just saying someone needs to be held accountable. You have arguably the best QB FAU has ever had coaching the WR's? Yeah because that makes sense, especially when QB right now is our biggest problem.

I understand not wanting to fire Howard, but if the Athletics department had any chutzpah they'd get rid of the OC and make some changes. Show your fans and your boosters you won't accept this as a lost season. I'm not a proponent of firing anyone, especially in this economy, but I do think someone needs to be held accountable. FAU has always been shy to pull the trigger. A few years back when we had the opposite problem, our offense was great but our D couldn't stop anything it finally took fans outcry and complaining before they fired the D coordinator and now look at our D. They gave up 3 pts last week!

I think someone else already said it, but I don't think Howard does the coaching anymore. He's on the sidelines, or now in the press box but IMO he's more of a figure head out there, the coordinators are calling the plays. I think they've been calling the plays for the last 2 or 3 seasons actually. If we had the stadium built and had already been playing in it for a few seasons I think he would've retired sooner. This football program is his baby, he started it all from scratch so I'm sure it means a lot to him that we finally have an on campus stadium. So firing him isn't the answer because like I said I don't think he's calling the plays anymore anyway. Do I know this for a fact? No, of course not! I'm just stating my opinion.

Look what happened in Boston with the Red Sox. They hire Terry Francona and the man does what no one before him has done for 86 years and wins a world series! Not only did he win a world series he won it twice! This year they suffered the worst collapse in their history and didn't make the post season. The owners didn't say oh it's ok you won us two World Series so don't worry about it, they fired him because while they appreciate what he did, someone had to be held accountable.

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!
