I hope they do a donation program again.  I bought a ticket to the NO Bowl last year and told the ticket office to donate it to the "Send a kid to a bowl" program.  I think I was supposed to get a thank you letter or something a while back, the Athletics dept called me for my address, but I never recieved anything.  I don't care about that, I just hope that little guy was rooting for us. ;D.  My only regret was that I should have bought two, so I could keep one for myself, but I will do that this year.  Either way, GO OWLS!

UPDATE: This from an e-mail exchange with the Dir. of Tickets for FAU Athletics


Decorative/commerative tickets:
"I haven’t actually seen the tickets yet (we are still waiting on them from the Motor City Bowl) but I will definitely let you know what they look like once I receive them."

Donating tickets:
YES YES YES!!!!  PLEASE tell everyone we have something set up called “Stocking Stuffers” where you can purchase a ticket for a discounted rate and donate it to underprivileged children in the Detroit area to help them attend the game.  We are also going to donate some of the tickets to a military base in the Detroit area to try to get all or most of the people left there for the Holiday’s to go to the game.  We are still working on the details of which children’s organization, but there is only one military base in Michigan and it happens to be in the Detroit area.  It’s called Selfridge AGB.

We are trying to push the donated tickets heavily because we do understand that Detroit is a ways to travel for a bowl game. But we are hoping that our loyal fans will still want to contribute to help us out.  Since we were the at large team, we don’t get the same payout that the MAC or Big Ten would for the bowl, so our trip is funded on ticket sales through our office.

There should be a press release that has either gone out or will go out today about the stocking stuffer promotion among a few other things, so keep an eye out for that on our website.  We really appreciate your help and anyone else’s help with this."

Great!  I'm glad that they got this info out early.  Hopefully a lot of people take advantage of the opportunity to donate tickets.  It helps the Owls and goes toward a good cause.

Question: Should the Owlsnest get together and buy 15 tickets (at least) at the $30 a pop for the stocking stuffer program.  The whole organization will be honored in the 2009 Program, and we could probably get a football signed by the seniors and coach and have it as sort of a collective trophy of the Message Board….Maybe see if we can have it put in a case at the Alumni center or at the stadium later.

I'm not trying to upset anyone or sound rude but I'd rather spend my $35 and put it towards the band getting to the game. It's a very nice gesture having the Boys/Girls clubs from MI going to the game but they're going to be rooting for CMU. I'd rather give my money to the band and put it towards a flight or a hotel room for them. They work hard all year and what's a college football game without the band?
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!
