Not me! Build FAU a true D1 level program Coach P! And let none of us forget, we are in CUSA now not the Belt with a home game on national TV vs. the hated Kitties in Owlcatraz!

Re: Can anyone confirm these reports?

I am not Sean (people on here can attest to that) but I do know him. Pelini hasn't just lied/been shady to him, though. From what I hear, he made plenty of enemies in Nebraska and that trend has continued here. He's just a shady character, and we at FAU are not used to that. Is winning going to be worth it when we have a scumbag coach lying to recruits, the media and anyone else he feels like? Just remember all of this when it all hits the fan at some point.

I'm not advocating any of the things you are accusing people of, but perhaps the problem with the program the last few years under Schnellenberger was that everyone involved was just too nice.  College football is a cut-throat business.  If you aren't doing what everyone else is doing, then you are going to get killed.  If you think Pelini is a scumbag, then you probably aren't a fan of very many coaches these days.

Re: Can anyone confirm these reports?

I get that you feel he dicked over someone you know and you're not happy about that, especially if it's on top of a mountain of other shady stuff that you don't want to go into detail about here.

But right now the only thing he's done wrong that I can see is tell us we couldn't roast the opposing mascot at the Fall bonfire. Hopefully he's not doing a bunch of shady stuff because that'll just bring us more notoriety and we need a break from being kicked in the ribs right now.

Re: Can anyone confirm these reports?

GhostofBuchanan - We all feel bad for Sean. We all liked him and he became a welcoming, familiar face. That said, nothing is ever fuaranteed with a new coach. In fact, most new coaches just overhaul their staffs entirely, so it's rare that not only did Sean work a year under Pelini, but Steve (video) did too, not to mention Jared, who's in his second year. This "lying" you speak of, to media and recruits…just when exactly did that occur? Pelini keeps info from the media, but when can we prove that he lied? And lied to recruits? I'm curious when that happened. We can throw all of these wild accusations around, but I'm curious as to when all of this "shady" behavior at FAU" has taken place. I spend a lot of time around him and the program, and I can't corroborate any of your claims.

Re: Can anyone confirm these reports?

There has never been a D1 coach that has come in a ticked off any of the previous staff by kicking them out to the curb! This is an outrage!

Re: Can anyone confirm these reports?

I didn't say he had lied to recruits, I just asked if he would be capable of that. I know he's been shady to the media, from the people I've talked to that dealt with him last season. As one source put it "He's a man of low character". I'm not going to throw anything else out there for the time being. I'll just let everything play out and we'll see what happens. Maybe nothing will. Certainly possible.

And, Silver_Bullet32, it wasn't the fact Sean was "kicked to the curb" that has me honked off like a goose. It was the fact he was lied to. I'm sure, like most employees, he expected to probably lose his job when Pelini came in. When he didn't, I bet he was happy, but then to be lied to on two occasions (being told he was being kept on, after initially being told he was going to be let go, and then being told he was being replaced by someone to also do recruiting), was just a kick in the cojones.

Look, maybe I'm just old school and wanted this program to remain low-key and relatively clean, but I think those days might be over.
