I think that's a very simplistic way of looking at things.

Exactly.  This ain't rocket science.

Simplistic was the wrong word.  I should have said idealistic.  It sounds like it should be easy, but it really is very complex.

I've always thought that we need a few "generations" of fans to witness a successful program. What I mean by "generation" 4 years, freshman - senior year. How many alumni do we have that we're here when we had a football team? Furthermore, how many we're here when we were winning? We've had potential but we couldn't put together 4-5 REALLY good years so that we were winning the whole time a student was here. Those are the students that will have more pride in the University and want to stay connected once they graduate. Thinking that our alumni should support us a ton more is silly at this point. Most of them were probably only here for 2-3 years anyway. Winning for a couple years in a row is the only way we're going to build a strong alumni base. C

Long story short is to bring in a staff that's going to win so we get some fannies in the seats.

Actually it is simplistic to understand.  You need money to win, and you need to win to make money.  It is the chicken or the egg scenario.

What is difficult is that WE are all living in the midst of a program being built…and that takes time.

Look at how many hundreds of thousands of Gator fans just woke up one day and had a program already built for them with no regard for all the sacrifice that hundreds before them went through.

We are like the fore-fathers of this program  :D.  Someone has to be first at everything.  That is the difficult part.

Did anyone contact ESPN to let them know about this week being coach's last game?

Our broadcast contract is with an ESPN affiliate...pretty sure they know about it...

The stadium will bring people eventually.  As a UCF fan, I saw us play in the Citrus Bowl (affectionately referred to as the "Citrus Dump") while I was in undergrad, and attendance was generally bad.  I went abroad for a few years and returned to us playing in our own on-campus stadium - lots of energy, especially from the students, and higher average attendance (although people still grumble about it).  I still find it amazing to be tailgating in the shadow of a building I took lots of classes in.

It'll take some time for FAU.  Winning would definitely help, but it's a really nice stadium - at least from the outside, I'm hoping to catch the last game next week!  As people have good experiences tailgating and going to the games, attendance should increase.
