Just got my hands on the CBS SportsLine college football magazine. Some highlights:

- They have us ranked 102 of 119, ahead of UNLV, Miami (Ohio), UAB, Tulane, Bowling Green, San Diego State, Army, La Tech, MTFU, North Texas, Idaho, ULM, Eastern Michigan, Temple, Buffalo, Utah State and FIU, who are dead last.

- They say we'll finish fourth in the SBC, behind ULL, Troy and Ark State.

- They say J. Jackson, Pinnick and Bartels will make All-Conf, with Pinnick winning Defensive MVP.

- They say Xavier Stinson will be Top Newcomer.

I think when we looked at this in past years we found that the forecast this time of the year looks alot like last season's finish.

I can't say for sure about Troy but we aren't losing to ASU and ULL! Not this year!!!!

LINDY'S actually picks FAU as a threat to win the SBC. Not a lock, but a serious contender that other teams should look out for.

If it's the same magazine as I'm thinking, I read the article as well and it predicted we WOULD have the exact same forecast as last year's outcome.

It also said we have the worst run defense in the conference, but called us an "ascending" team that should be a surprise contender.

Let's hope.

P.S. How come everyone made such a ruckus about Xavier Stinson signing with us yet nobody mentioned him during the Spring Game on campus? I'm new to college football so I didn't know if there was some sort of regulation keeping him out or…?

In his 2007 college football preview magazine, Phil Steele praises Coach and the FAU program, and says that the game at Troy on December 1 may very well determine the Sun Belt Conference champion. GO OWLS!

the same song and dance every year…and every year they are WRONG…see last year as a prime example…

i like gofaufootball's quote…that sounds the most realistic…because FIU and North Texas, despite having new coaches, have too much of a learning curve coming with that newness…

ASU, aint buying…Troy yes…and BTW with Troy making the big splash to national TV TWICE on the Duece, they may have just gained a serious recuriting advantage IMO…

Our biggest nemesis will be our tough OOC games, making it very hard to get a .500 record for the season. It can make having a great year not look so good when one only looks at the overall record.

Are we contenders, we should have a more then decent shot at a conference title and like any conference play there will some tough games during the course of the season starting with the Smurf Berries. I do like what I see from this team so far - a team that is showing much more poise.
