Reading his contract, I don't think the buyout is $1MM.Posted On: Oct 1st 2016, 10:46 PM #360287
I agree I read it the other day and the wording is a bit odd but I also don't see how it is anywhere near 1mm at this point

Not sure I'm reading this right but, based on this, it looks like if Charlie was relieved of head coaching duties at the end of the season next week he could be reassigned by the University to another position (assistant coach maybe?) and he wouldn't be due any more of his remaining pay per the Contract (about 1.1 million) until after his contract term ends in January 2019 (could that be right???). Alternatively, Charlie could choose to take a lump sum severance of about $200,000 and leave immediately. Considering he could make a salary similar to what he is making now as an assistant at a P5 school not sure why he wouldn't just take the lump sum payment especially if he wouldn't get any more of his pay until 2019. That last condition seems crazy to me.

Can he be the new "Walking 101" professor? I took that class one summer, and think it would be a good fit

ODU was the team on the road…. already bowl eligible…. and behind by 8 at halftime!
FAU playing AT HOME in a 2 game win streak with an 8 point LEAD at the half.
If you can't energize yourself or your team with such advantages that WE HAD…. you should not be coaching anything IMHO!

I once successfully defended a fellow student in teen court. What can I do ya for?
Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Why?
Unless one is interpreting "material neglect of Coach's duties" to mean not winning, there is nothing of warrant for the University to execute termination. And winning is no where to be found in the outlined duties.
He has to be served 36 months termination notice as of 12-31-14 to end the tenure after 2017, which he was not. He was not served termination notice after 2015 either, and even if he was it would mean the close of 2018.
2014 $500K
2015 $500K +5%
2016 $525K + Lump Sum Retention $40K + 5%
2017 $525K +5%
2018 $551.25K +5%
2017, and 2018 payouts are outstanding based on the agreement, and as of right now aside from no further tenure because of a University termination based on cause situation, are due.
