Jeremey Gaskins

Rivals = 0 stars
ESPN= No listing
Scout= No Listing

Now I dont really have an issue with it. If Coach sees something fine, but it appears NO one else has.

This kid is the same type of kid we have been recruiting for years….I have no problem with it.  Coach him up and develop him.
the type of kids we have been recruiting for years is the reason we were 1-11 There is a reason why WKU FIU and ASU have had some of the top classes in the Belt.
Here are some numbers someone posted on ted blog this morning
Here are some numbers for the "non-star believers" to think about:
2009 3-Stars Players
FIU= 5 (Plus a 4 star)
FAU= 2
2010 3-Stars
WKU =5
FIU =10
Ark State =6
FAU= 1
2011 3-Stars
WKU= 11!
FIU= 10!
Ark State= 7!
ULL= 7!
FAU=2
And who are the 4 teams on top of the Sun Belt this year?
Walty you need to stop living in this world of if we get a kid no matter how talented if he try's really really hard we will be really good…….it dose not work this way if your not even being looked at by any other D-1 schools your probably not that good nine times out of ten.

Ok, then explain 2007 and 2008?  Those kids were 4 and 5 star players?

Still waiting for you to explain UF, FSU, UCLA, Notre Dame, etc.  If recruiting is all that matters why are those teams not very good?

BUT…. These schools have shown interest; Indiana, Middle Tennessee, UCF & Bowling Green.

True, but I dont think this is what those who wanted a "Bump" in recruiting wanted to see.

I have a sinking feeling that a lot of folks on here expected Coach Pelini to bring in all 3 star and a few 4 stars. That is obviously not going to happen.  We have to give him time.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

You guys need to be realistic about recruiting…unlike we were about the coaching search.  We simply are not going to land 4 and 5 star players.  Most of the kids that have 4 and 5 stars do because the big time programs offered them.

To be honest the difference between a 2 star player and a 3 star player on these sights is negligable.  They dont spend a lot of time evaluating SunBelt type players or even our program for that matter.

You guys must be brutal to watch the NFL draft with. ;D

This class will be rushed - I wouldn't expect a really stellar recruiting class yet really. Next year's class, however, needs to be the best class in FAU history as far as I'm concerned.

Just curious, do you determine that before they even get to college or will that be determined when they graduate?

Lets hold off until NLI Day and see who committs.

First of all…this is the very first offer that Pelini has given and it was to a kid who has had some success playing behind one of the best running backs in the US. He'll be a 3 star by the weekend once Rivals catches up.

Pelini will be playing catch up this season, expect some bigger splashes next year but jesus guys…it's his first offer and the guy had been on the job for 48 hours when he did it and you're all "it's more of the same!" Which would you prefer, he wait a month to court some kids that are way up on the radar or hit the ground running? You can not have both. SMH

TeamBeer makes a good point. I like the fact Pelini is hitting the recruiting trail right away, and is using some of the old staff to help him. I know he has to hire a staff, but if he shows up to schools, he is making a effort to bring the new face of the program to the front. We still have a few months until spring practice and the spring game.

Re: Coach Pelini - let's focus on Delray Beach for a start...

My brother works at American Heritage and this is what he had to say about Coach Pelini:  He saw coach sitting by himself in the stands for over two hours (he mentioned that most coaches spend a couple of minutes and take off) the minute that practice was over he walked right on the field straight up to Gaskins and offered him a scholarship (after two hours I guess he knew).

Coach Pelini was also impressed with another player who has committed to another top school. Apparently Coach was relentless and wants to meet with his family.  He stated that he would pitch a tent in their front yard if necessary.

If this is any indication I think he is going to land some recruits - if not this year than next.

and this is the relentlessness we want to see from our coach!
Give him time, I think the recruits will come, we might even luck out and get some good ones.
