My brother works at American Heritage and this is what he had to say about Coach Pelini: He saw coach sitting by himself in the stands for over two hours (he mentioned that most coaches spend a couple of minutes and take off) the minute that practice was over he walked right on the field straight up to Gaskins and offered him a scholarship (after two hours I guess he knew).
Good info…love it!

Bryant: 1,933 yards 22 TDs
Gaskins: 1,281 13 TDs
Maybe Gaskins has been overlooked, just a thought.
But let me ask everyone this, if Howard was still the coach would he have been out at a 3-A high school practice early in December for 2-hours? NO WAY.
If Pelini, our HEAD football coach watched a running back practice for 2-hours and then decided to offer him, I will take that. It's not like he was just watching film. He was at the practice meaning he saw every single move and action that Gaskins took part in. He was able to see how coach-able the player is, how hard he works in practice, how he conducts himself, etc…
Pelini wants to change the culture of this program and I don't think he would just blindly hand out his first offer to someone that didn't fit that picture.

I highly doubt that Thursday was the first day he heard about Gaskins. I think seeing how he practiced made an impact on him and he probably liked what he saw on film.
The watching film was in reference to him not just offering some running back that he just saw on film. I agree I'm sure how he practiced resulted in the offer.
Seeing a player in practice is a lot easier way to gauge an individual than a highlight tape, because you get to see the whole picture. Does he block on pass plays? Is he first in sprints?

I have explained the FSU UF thing about a million times to you in other posts i do not expect yo get 4 and 5 star kids but wku hould not be wooping our a** in recruiting in our own state Howard was a terrible recruiter there is no argument to that.walty12 said

the type of kids we have been recruiting for years is the reason we were 1-11 There is a reason why WKU FIU and ASU have had some of the top classes in the Belt.walty12 said
This kid is the same type of kid we have been recruiting for years….I have no problem with it. Coach him up and develop him.owlfamily said
Jeremey Gaskins
Rivals = 0 stars
ESPN= No listing
Scout= No Listing
Now I dont really have an issue with it. If Coach sees something fine, but it appears NO one else has.
Here are some numbers someone posted on ted blog this morning
Here are some numbers for the "non-star believers" to think about:
2009 3-Stars Players
FIU= 5 (Plus a 4 star)
FAU= 2
2010 3-Stars
WKU =5
FIU =10
Ark State =6
FAU= 1
2011 3-Stars
WKU= 11!
FIU= 10!
Ark State= 7!
ULL= 7!
FAU=2
And who are the 4 teams on top of the Sun Belt this year?
Walty you need to stop living in this world of if we get a kid no matter how talented if he try's really really hard we will be really good…….it dose not work this way if your not even being looked at by any other D-1 schools your probably not that good nine times out of ten.
Ok, then explain 2007 and 2008? Those kids were 4 and 5 star players?
Still waiting for you to explain UF, FSU, UCLA, Notre Dame, etc. If recruiting is all that matters why are those teams not very good?
I do not under stand how you can not make the connection that we have recruited terrible thus why we suck as to FIU was has done well thus why they are good.

Um has anyone pointed out that Gaskins is playing behind junior running back Greg Bryant who already has 12+ offers?
