Florida Atlantic (7-5) vs. Memphis (7-5), ESPN2, 8 p.m.
New Orleans, Dec. 21, ESPN2, 8 p.m.
Analysis: This isn’t like his Miami team beating Nebraska in the Orange Bowl to win the 1983 national championship. It isn’t like his Louisville team reaching the Fiesta Bowl and smashing Alabama. But getting Florida Atlantic to a bowl game? One of the proudest moments for Owls coach Howard Schnellenberger, whose team earned its bid by defeating tough Troy on the road 38-32 to win the Sun Belt Conference championship. Memphis, which began 1-3, won its last three games, but it hasn’t faced anyone like Florida Atlantic QB Rusty Smith.
Prediction: Florida Atlantic 30, Memphis 27.

I'm so glad I go to a school with a great QB.
I hope that by his senior year Rusty Smith can mature and become a national college football standout.

Yeah… I think FAU has this one… we'll play them like we did Minnesota… we have the element of suprise in the fact that we are still new and there is not a lot of history for Memphis to rate us on…

Duh, I think Memphis gets to see our previous game videos and reviews them and dissects them.  That is how the coaches do it at most schools, including my old high school team.  Just because Minnesota probably did not know we were good, does not mean Memphis makes the same mistakes.  Memphis has about 3 or 4 weeks to find out all they can about us.  This is a bowl game, figure they are coming to NOLA expecting to kick our butts back to Florida.

Anytime you have this much time to prepare for a team, expect the unexpected and for both teams to be prepared.  One thing about our Defense, they have limited BIG plays as of late & will continue to be the key for the Owls to get W's, we tend to give up yardage, but makes stops when we have to & force timely turnovers.

I agree anything can happen.  We keep saying Memphis lost to Sunbelt teams this year that we beat.  Let's not forget, Troy crushed Ok State, and OK State killed us…so let's get that nonsense out of our heads.
