fauball31.. I knew it was you. I hope you knew that I was just kidding in my response. FIUFanatic was just making a point in how we "review" each other's board and can make an issue out of some of the posts if we look hard enough.

Have a good night and better SIGNING day t'mw. Did you see the potential signing list under 2006 SIGNINGS?

I think that both FIU and FAU's needs are very different this year. Even though there has been a few recruits that both schools have pursuited, I do think that both programs have made great stride in being able to attract better athletes and the thread should continue to prosper for both programs.

Which school that has the better recruiting class will or should only be judges on how the recruits have help each program continue their developement process and how each athlete may fit in the current systems.

I saw this today on espn.com:

ERROR: A link was posted here (url) but it appears to be a broken link.

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/rankings?&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com %2fncf%2frecruiting%2ftracker%2frankings

doesn't look like the"experts" think we have a great incoming class.

OG, Bytor,
You guys seem to be the experts on the talent pool and who FAU has signed today. What with this ranking. (you will have to copy and paste the link to the address bar). This bothers me a little. What kind of players did we end up with.

According to this list, FAU did sign Revell.

Illinoisowl..FAU have a good signing class this year. You cannot tell until they hit the field of play but they have produced in high school. We don't need to replace that many bodies. A lot is coming back and there are some good athletes who did not play last year because of red shirts.

Remember that the same experts had us winning ZERO games last year. Not only did we win 2 games, we also had a legitimate shot at 2 more!

Owls will be OK.

O.G. is 100% right to many people get caught up in the star thing and see that as the determining factor in how a program will do. The amazing thing is how many no star athletes turn out to be the stars in college.

Plus, making the jump from HS to College is a big difference and some players have a hard adjusting to the speed and physical play. Some of these players that where starts in HS all of a sudden find that they can't get away with the things they did in HS and don't have the mental toughness to make the necessary adjusments. It about the players mental toughness as much as his physical abilities that will translate to how he DEVELOPS as a college players - development being the key word here and how he reach to the System the coaches are preaching or should I say teaching.

In any sports the mental preparation is more important then the physical abilities.

Like OG and Talon mentioned we will OK, I think we will be surprised with the athletes that will be on the field the next two years - the nucleus of athletes is there and in need of development, last year recruits have one year under their belt and know how hard they must work to compete at the highest of levels ( the OCC games we played last year was a major step in that development ). This will be a very interest spring, as there will be a bunch of players pushing the veterans for starting spots.

We will find that some players will be in filling in certain position with NO experience this year, so again we will have growing pains that we will go through this year, but I HOPE that some leardership will continued to build from last year, even though we lost some key veteran leadership - that will help define the success we have this year.

I've mentioned this before and is worth repeating - this will be a very solid team in two years, I think the type of year we have will be define on how Spring and Fall practices go - what type of identity will the team define for themselves - the Original Owls had an Identity we all identified with and took a couple of year to build and so we are within that process now of rebuilding a new identity.

Expect more growing pains this year, with the future in mind as to where this team will be in the near future - a very SOLID team.
