78 days until FAU Football kicks off!

Some former Owls who wore #78: Troy Niblack, and Jarrid Smith.

Niblack was a OL from Orlando (Edgewater HS). Saw action in 8 games in 2009. Sat out 2010. Played in 11 games in 2011 at 3 different positions on the line and also special teams. Moved to defense in spring of 2012. Also wore #68.

Smith was a OL from Okeechobee (Okeechobee HS). In 2004 was slated to be starting center but moved to guard a week before the season began. In 2005, played in every game. Started the season at center and then moved to left guard. In 2006, played in every game and received preseason all Sun Belt honors. Was the first Native American to play at FAU and almost didn't go there because the Owl is a symbol of death or bad things to many Native Americans.

Photo of Niblack on the field, and of Jarrid Smith stopping by for a visit. He also happened to stop by yesterday and I told him about the countdown and how it worked and that today was day 78. He liked it!

Was that the year we played Tebow?  I remember I went to the game with a friend who is a UF season ticket holder and was really impressed with our line.  Charles Pierre was an amazing blocker out of the backfield as well, they couldn't get to Rusty.

2007…

59-20 outcome UF's way and Tebow became the first player in NCAA history with at least 20 touchdowns passing and rushing in the same season.

Gators had three sacks that game, and we gave up 15 for the year.
