Dear Howard... Its time for change
Lost 2 games by 2 points but we have a bye week to get things right.
My problem is game management late in the halves which is when both ULM and Wyoming beat us. We had the ball three times and could not even get into FG range on any of the three "drives" (even started on the ULM 48 after the fumble recovery and ended on the ULM 48, SAD!). They got the ball back and in 19 seconds put up 3 before the half. That is a six point swing in a 2 point game!
We have to play out the season with what we have but the coaches MUST learn to utilize our talents better and call plays better and manage the clock better, and instill discipline now! If not, then replace the coaches responsible for our problem areas, but not now in the middle of the season.
Thank God for the bye week! OWLS, get to work, no day off until you earn one, cause you gotta admit this, we could not beat St. Thomas now, let alone Troy, MTSU, Ark. St, …..!!!

"You win some, you lose some"…. this isn't baseball, we don't have 158 games remaining. At 0-4 we should have our crap together and we don't. Period. It's a crappy football team. We have no killer instinct, no defense and make ZERO adjustments all game. I watched as Wyoming ran some sort of soft zone where they'd have their safeties up and drop their LB's back to prevent anything over the middle (Harmon). We made no adjustments to it.
It is time to panic… fold up the tents, we lost games we should've won at HOME. Aren't you supposed to play better at home?

I never said we don't have problems or that our team is awesome, my contention is that we are the same as we always have been. Remember 2007? We scooted by teams in OT, barely beating others. Ditto in 2008. It's always been the same where we have stalled drives and soft defenses…except that somehow we manage to come out ahead. The heart attack owls we love have become the heart break owls.
We lost to two teams by the same number of points I would have expected us to win by, if we had won. So yes, when you are always playing teams close then you will win some and you will lose some.
8 games to go that are all just about as winnable as the last 2. If we assume they all could have gone either way then we finish 5-7. If we put a little more heart in maybe we finish 6-6 or 7-5.

First point… it may always be the same, but come on… if our football program is to ever reach for a better conference, better bowls, we HAVE to get better, we are not… even by your own admission.
Second point…. We play 8 more games and 6 or 7 of those could beat the teams we have lost to. I wouldn't call any of the games but WKU "winnable" based on what I have seen so far. FIU, Troy, MTSU, Ark State look a TON better than we do. A TON.
2+2 = 4 to me, always has and always will. It doesn't change the fact that I love them, I want them to do well. It's just sheer truth, which you seem to be ignoring.
We are not a good football team. It may change, and if it does I would be surprised.
As for the "bandwagon" comment. No, people aren't going to "pack up the tent and leave", the band wagon people aren't at the games. The band wagon people are still at home or in their dorms looking on and seeing FAU is giving them no reason to come down to watch. Even Howard said it was tough to watch yesterday.
I see plenty of heart on the football team… Lockley, Alfred Morris, Harmon, etc. I don't see a lot creativity, adjustments and plain defensive execution. I don't see how more heart is going to change our problems.

Re: Dear Howard... Its time for change
Troy and Arkansas State might be the class of the Belt at the moment, but they know that any given Saturday in the Sun Belt and they could be taken down.
And yeh, it has always been the same, but not next year. Next year we will really see what happens in a transition to a new QB and maybe we regress, maybe we move forward. As great as Rusty has been for us, he is a streaky QB, and our team has been streaky with him….get him fired up and focused and he will take you to great heights, shake him up or make him lose concentration and he will give you the predictable 3 and out. When Rusty is off our Defense turns off because it knows its gonna be out there a long time, when he is on, they play like any of the best defenses I have seen…..its the nature of FAU football right now. Next year that will change….for better or for worse.
