Does this sound like Howard?

Does this sound like Howard?

I was the first UP sports editor. You bet your bottom dollar if coach said that to me it would not only be in print, it would be part of my headline.

That is one hell of a quote and look at the attention its getting.

If there's anyone to fault for giving Texas something to get fired up for, its Howard*.

* - If these turn out to be howards true words, of course.

I guess,

Perhaps its part of his training, Maybe he wants this out there so he can show the boys.

There is no hiding, there is no "under" the radar now, You have to train harder then ever and play harder.

Personally, I didnt want to give Texas ANY more ammunition.

I just cant see howard swearing (yes its a MINOR swear) to a reporter of any level.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

As I was reading the blog comments, I was thinking to myself "I bet HS did this to fire up his boys and make them work even harder."

Good comment. I agree.

I don't really know if HS said it or not, but speaking from experience, coach was always a little more open with those close to the program. He was always very open and honest with me, but I was careful not to jeopardize the trust we had built when he would say certain things.

Maybe he is like that with Jay?

I was thinking the exact same thing. I believe some things were said in an unspoken confidence that turned out to be, well, in the news. To see that it's even on ESPN now… I think Coach may have just endangered some of our players since now Texas will want to hit us 2x as hard to drive home a point. That could amount to injuriesto key players.

Soooo not a great thing to say by any means.

Re: Does this sound like Howard?

Somebody keep a peak at Sports Center today…i have a strange feeling this will make it there somehow…in fact i wonder of his cel phone is ringing now…

AND:

I wouldnt put it past HS that this was a ploy to get some much needed pub for the game…this could potentially turn producers heads in favor of broadcasting it?

So if we get destroyed by a Texas team out for blood, and injure players happen can we hate Jay Warman again as muchh as we hated him during the Bball season? ;D

Howard may of thought he was "off the record" here, in which case Ill bet he NEVER talkds to the campus press again.

Thought more about this…love these comments.  Howard has the best team he has had at FAU, we need a marquee win for the sake of the program and the stadium, and he made these promisises before (Circa Miami vs. Penn St. 1983) and came through.  Let him run his mouth all he wants, the comments kind of fired me up and all I will be doing during the game is drinking the warm beer I snuck in to the stadium.  Howard knows what it takes to fire up the team he has, and if its comments like these….so be it.

I understand your point, but you cannot go into a football game worrying about injuries…you have to play balls out all 12 weeks to get it done.  There are many reasons he may have made those comments…lets just hope they are true.

Re: Does this sound like Howard?

I'm fired up about the game moreso than ever. After walking out on practice yesterday (as reported by Hutton), he came back and said this.

If I was his team, I would be glad he said it. It shows public confidence that he believes we are as good as Texas. And how often has HS come out and said something that bold? The stadium construction..and that's it.

Anyone else see an ESPN headline tonight?
