Somebody keep a peak at Sports Center today…i have a strange feeling this will make it there somehow…in fact i wonder of his cel phone is ringing now…

AND:

I wouldnt put it past HS that this was a ploy to get some much needed pub for the game…this could potentially turn producers heads in favor of broadcasting it?

Could be a great tool to get publicity as F_O said.

Horn fans really werent chatting much about this game, and ESPN handnt even mentioned it.

Smells more and more like a good marketing gimmick to get attention to the game and the Owls.

Course it could make us get our arse's handed to us as well.  ;D

As one of the main people who is anti-Jay I see nothing wrong with this. In fact I think it's awesome! Maybe this will give Texas something to think about, let them know we are for real and we're coming to play. If they get destroyed by Texas it will have nothing to do with Howard's comments it will have to do with Texas just being better then us.

Frantz Joseph said today that this is the toughest camp ever. Howard got pissed and walked off the other day because they weren't practicing as hard as he'd like. He's not taking this game lightly he's making sure they are prepared and they don't get run out of the building.. I don't believe they will and they WILL show up to play and hang with the big boys!

Some people need  to get off the "oh now they are going to hurt us" schtick. This is football.

We've gotten our butts handed to us every year by a school that's better than us and bigger than us, but we've stuck in there and showed them hit us all you want, we're not going to back down.  I don't know about you, but I am damn proud of that.

If they want to see this as motivation to hurt one of our players, that's ok… we'll stick to our gameplan and while they are trying to send us a message we'll be scoring points.

Like things, love people.

I think Coach may have just endangered some of our players since now Texas will want to hit us 2x as hard to drive home a point. That could amount to injuriesto key players.

Soooo not a great thing to say by any means.

I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree more with this comment..

OK we're playing Texas not the Dallas Cowboys. Who says they will try and hurt us or hit us 2x as hard, maybe our guys will go out there and show Texas Howard isn't kidding and they'll knock the crap out of them. Maybe Frantz will go on there and knock the crap out of McCoy and knock him on his back.

These are football players! If they can't take a hit I see badminton is an Olympic sport maybe they should try out for that!

Exactly!

On a side note:

The formula for our upset win at HI was "dont tackle him, but hold the guy until two more can get there to hit him as well"…by the fourth quarter the HI receivers all had "short arms"…this is the same plan…it worked then, and i bet it works now - especially since we have the corners and LB's we have.

Re: Does this sound like Howard?

The more we think about it the more these quotes make sense. Coach did say that FAU is no longer playing games as "advanced training." FAU is now playing each and every game with the goal of winning.

With that said, he needs to instill the team with the appropriate mindset to get the job done. Talking about the strength of the defense does two things:

1) It gets the defense more motivated and gives them more confidence going into the Texas game.

2) It takes some of the focus off of the FAU offense, which can be a good thing since so much has been made thus far about the potent offensive attack.

Re: Does this sound like Howard?

Well

Jay confirmed that he did a one on one interview with coach and these were the quotes.

Howard's saying it for reason then.

We have to trust in coach that hes doing the right thing to motivate his team and get the word out.

GO OWLS!

Venerable coach Howard Schnellenberger has been doing some trash talking that even French swimmers might envy, according to the FAU student newspaper. (Warning: Salty language in a quote).
