Duron carter transfer??

Duron carter transfer??

Ahhhh, the great Duron Carter escapade. The son of Cris Carter transferred to Alabama from Ohio State in April of 2011, but had trouble getting any closer to game action than the practice field. A few weeks into the season, Nick Saban noted Carter might not make it out for the year at any point, and then spring ball also came and went without him.

And now this:

"That guy refuses to buy in to what we teach and what we value to be succesful. He will not play for this football team. Period," Nick Saban reportedly said at a gathering.

Carter was rated a four-star recruit out of Fort Lauderdale by Rivals, making him the 11th-best receiver in the country. The 6'3 possession man mustered 176 career yards for the Buckeyes in 2009, and that's been his entire college career to date.

Living close to home will help fix a lot of those problems he was having imo

Your right about that. Chris Carter will kick his butt if he doesn't get his head straight.

Re: Duron carter transfer??

1. Thanks Canuck, I caught that after my post last night, seems like they have source reporting it as there isn't much else out there on the net.

2. Playing close to home can have good and bad repercussions. IF Chris Carter is the kind of parent that will ride his boy and keep him out of trouble, then yes it'll help but who's to say he isnt treating Duron like the man he is and letting him make his own mistakes. Like I mentioned before, if Alabama can't get you academically qualified then you must not have been doing ANYTHING! What's Durons social network like here? Couldn't it be more trouble for him? I get that being Chris Carter's kid puts you in a different socioeconomic status than some but that doesn't mean he can't have bad influences in his life. He's not making the best decisions thus far.

Should we take him if this talk is real? F YES! An intro to STA, Chris Carter around the program (I know he was involved as a coach in high school, which won't be the case here of course but kids of HOFers are good to have around) and a kid that would be a big size upgrade here, IF he can play. I wonder if the NCAA grants him the waiver though, coming close to home to help your mother out like Frantz Joseph is one thing, coming back bc you can't get it together is another.

Re: Duron carter transfer??

I would think it is likely that He has spoken to Coach P. before even applying to FAU to see if he is wanted here. And if so, I am also sure Coach P. covered ALL of these issues before approving it! We shall see, but to get a recruit of his "caliber" and from St. Thomas, hopefuly, we get a productive year or two at WR AND get our foot in the door in a serious way down at St. Thomas - THAT could be HUGE!
Hopefully coming closer to home helps his get his stuff together both personally and he does well enough in the one or two years here to get his NFL shot. Hopefully Duron, you are in the process of "getting it together" and I hope you are an Owl soon in the process!

Agreed.  He is not transferring to be close to his family, he is running out of options, it sounds like to me.  Even if the NCAA thinks he is transferring to be close to family, there is no compelling reason to grant a waiver IMO.  Kids transfer to be close to home all the time.  They usually sit out…unless there is a compelling reason like an ill family member, etc.  Unless there is more to the story, I don't see a waiver coming.

Re: Duron carter transfer??

Having Cris Carter around the program can be beneficial as well. Let's say he shows up at one of our televised games, I am SURE the camera will find him. If he so happens to be sporting an FAU hat, even better. If you're a kid at home and you turn this game on and you see HOF WR Cris Carter wearing an FAU hat while he's at FAU stadium, I would think that would help in your decision to go school at FAU. It certainly has helped Miami over the years when they bring someone like Michael Irvin back

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Re: Duron carter transfer??

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him. BUT… like FAUOWL said, NCAA does not usually grant waivers just to move close to home, usually needs a legitimate reason, illness, family problem, etc… And he does not seem like the type to want to wait a year, therefore I doubt we get him.

Any D-1 school he applies to he's going to have to sit out. Only other choice would be for him to go to CC for a year and then transfer his senior season

Re: Duron carter transfer??

he could just settle with an FCS school to play NOW!

With his name, if he has "blow-up" numbers he could still easily get drafted from there.
