I hope it works out and he get's to play here this year but I will (obviously) beleive both matters when we see them!

How does the waiver work if you never played at the school you were attending? Can't he consider last season a "sit out" because he never dressed for Bama?

he's not going through a hardship, so that's a bad angle.

I know this a joke but I'll answer it anyway because I'm on Summer Break with entirely too much time on my hands.

Their Admissions website is kinda dodgy about it. It just says, "A student with a 21 ACT or 1000 SAT [critical reading and math scores only] along with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 should be successful at the University.)" It doesn't even list the GPA/SAT/ACT ranges.

One site said that for 2011, their acceptance rate was 44%. The SAT was 1268, ACT 22, and GPA is a mystery, somewhere around 3.4-3.5.

Hard to say. Sounds to me like if you got into Bama you could get into FAU, and vice versa.

"The NCAA hardship waiver is for student-athletes who are "compelled to transfer because of financial hardship, or an injury or illness to the student-athlete or a member of their family."

Meh. If that's true, it doesn't sound like he'll get the waiver since he's just moving to be closer to his family…

At first I was giving it about a 5% chance that he could get a hardship, but this article says the NCAA approves almost half of the requests. Still it is a long shot.

Without some fantastic sidestepping, Carter is going to have a tough time playing in 2013, but it's possible:

Me and Big Deetz are on the same page…I'd argue that he wasn't a football player at Bama AND if he can use his final example, and just walk on at FAU then perhaps he has a shot. I would venture to guess that though a scholly would be nice, it isn't an absolute necessity in this case, he can probably afford FAU, even if just for a year.

We used to have an intramurals rule where if you were attending PBCC you could play at FAU when I was a student…does that count for football too?
