Embick vs Souverain

Embick vs Souverain

Interesting conversation yesterday with a coach and a few players.
Coach Schnell likes McKinson, but Embick is his man right now. The stumper? He may be considering the two headed monster for awhile. Almost like this year in his 2nd qtr rule. Mckinson for certain running situations vs Embick in passing situations. Tennessee tried this with QB's Ainge and Shaffer this year.

Thoughts?

I've never thought this was a good idea… the QB revolving door. I think that really takes away from the QB's job to motivate his players… because the same guy isn't in there every play.

Players, i believe, will have a tough time adjusting to the differant velocities of the two QB's.. I also think it might be devastating to the timing between the QB and WR..

But hey, I might be wrong?!

I kind of expected coach to do a similar rotation like he did this year with Embick & Souverain. Embick maybe the starter at the beginning, but will he be able to handle the pressure of having Souverain breathing down his neck all season long.

I don't like the constant rotation either, it does effect rhythm of the offense & confidence of any QB. You need a QB to be loose and not worried about making a mistake that could bench you.

I like having a QB that can come in at any time to help generate a spark when the offense is stagnate.

I know the coach says that we don't have a QB controversy, but one could develop as the season develops - it will be interesting how this plays out.

I'm all for letting the 2nd stringer come in for a series or 2 a game to gain experience.. Where I have the problem is where you bring in differant QB's during the game based on the situation on a constant rotating basis…

That can't help timing. I agree with you.

Even if he subs with that pattern, I don't see it going on all year long. Probably will cause too many distractions.

Keep Embick in as the starter (experience matters for QBs) and let the Haitian Sensation fill the role that Embick did this year.

Expirence at QB next year will be important with our OL getting younger and will be less expirence. So I will agree that Embick will be the guy - he is also mobile enough to keep defenses from being to agressive.

How much playing time Souverain get will depends on how fast he developes and if Embick struggles to get things done.

You would think that Dane Hansen had left the team the way you guys seem to be completely ignoring him. Souverain will still be a freshman next year and I don't exactly think that Schnelly wants to turn the team into an option offense just yet. I don't think the Haitian Sensation will play much next year either to be honest with you, unless Hansen is a complete bust, which I doubt he is.

"the haitian micheal vick" will definitly not be in the QB battle next year, unless he lights it up in practice this spring. Personally I'm pulling for Embick, so i might be a little bias(fellow Jupiter alum). but i think the fact Mr. Howard isn't very big on running QB's will keep the (RS)freshman on the bench at least another year. But he's defenitly a talent from what i heard from his high school coaching staff.

Hansen :o It almost seems as if he has become a forgotten soul, which is to bad because the guy does deserve a shot - I have spoken highly of him in the past and still do (should :o). Spring and Fall practices will be interesting because there will be plenty of action for all position including the QB spot.

Hansen will be a solid QB if given a change - the coaches will have some tough descisions to make in the upcoming off season.
