ESPN's Top 10 potential BCS busters

Has any FAU fan on this board said there is a good chance we will win this game?  The ONLY point I am trying to make is a) getting blown out in Austin by an 11-1 football team is NOT supposed to be deflating and b) playing an underdog that has a senior QB that has 30+ starts under his belt gives us a better chance than USUAL to win….not saying we are going to…just saying its a better chance than usual.

history shows we can't hang in this game. eventually we'll be able to get one, is this it? who knows. got to play 60 minutes to find out. we could go back to the texas thread from a year ago and I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the two threads apart. it would be great to keep it interesting but won't be surprised if we don't.

We will put points on the board, but can the defense keep us in it, time will tell. But, being the first game, I don't think the D will click just yet, and I think that is the factor.

USC is a week off and the game after that, I don't think that will be enough time for the D to click either, but we probably will have the better chance then.

its going to help the defense to go against our offense in practice. especially if its well rounded with a running game and short passes to tight end or a full back rolling out.

I understand what you are saying….last year I got torn apart for saying Texas was going to kill us on that very thread.  I just think a talented Senior QB is a big deal in college football….history shows that.

not doubting that at all, its going to help. all i'm saying is 22 guys need to prove they can play with a BCS team on the road. until they do nobody can argue with any evidence that we'll be playing a respectable game.

Again, I think we can play/win this game because Nebraska is going to win this game with their defense not their offense, which should help out our defense not get embarrassed. And I'm confident our offense can play with anyone in college football if A. its not raining and B. the temperature is above 60 degrees.

I think rain is the lamest excuse we could ever have.  I am sure this was born out of the Michigan State game which everyone says we almost won…except for the fact that we did not score a point.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that it probably rains as much in south Florida as much as it does anywhere in the country and we probably practice in it as much or more than anyone in the country because we do not use indoor facilities.

Yes, we had a couple plays that we should have and could have converted for points against MSU, but the rain impacted MSU as well.  If it didn't rain, they probably would have won by at least the same 17 points.

If we cannot play in the rain then we need to practice more.

history shows you can't win until you do win one.

that said it's not about your starting 22, it's the rest of the team where nebraska will win it at.  you might be able to keep it close for 3 quarters but i feel that nebraska's depth will just be to much.

You can't use rain as an excuse, both team had to deal with the same conditions - it came down to lack of execution, which include not being able to run the ball when you need to and the you need to be able to make adjustments -they did we did not.

Depth is what usually hurts us in these type of game and this year is no different, improving just not quite there yet.
