Fall Practice Notes & Pics for 08-08-10

After lightning forced a change to the scheduled start of 3:30 p.m. today, the team gathered at the FAU track complex for a rare evening practice that featured cooler temps, and an opportunity to work on an artificial surface.

Not in agreement with the tone early, Coach Schnellenberger gave a call to arms to "pick up the pace"; which was immediately received.

“We waited a longtime to get today’s workout in, but in the finale that we put together, we got a good practice in,” Schnellenberger said.

Prior to team drills, the defense saw interceptions from Michael Lockley and Keith Reaser.

However, the offense gained the upper hand in the end with Jeff Blanchard and Willie Floyd taking two in two scores on the ground, and Nexon Dorvilus finding the end zone for the second day in a row behind a 65-yard pass reception from David Kooi.

Xavier Stinson was on the field but sporting a boot after an ankle injury suffered late in yesterday's session. He did not participate and his return status has not been announced.

The team is scheduled to return to the field tomorrow and Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. for a half pad sessions before moving to full pads on Wednesday.

The first three-a-day session will be held on Thursday beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Rick,

How do those Freshmen QBs look? I know it's pretty early but have either of them shown great arm strength or solid vision or anything?

They aren't getting much work right now…so, it's tough to tell about accuracy, etc.

Mostly participating in position drills…
