I am a little surprised by this thread. I sat directly behind the Cajun bench (where I have been for every game in FAU history)with a large group of students in front of me this time. The ULL players were really getting a kick out of the chants from our students. They were laughing and egging the students on. I did not personally hear any of the afore mentioned vulgarity, but I found it very refreshing to actually have people around me for the first time since the Colgate game. It kinda had the feel of a college game. ;D

I am not condoning people using the football game as an excuse to be (jerks). I don't like that either. I just didn't witness any of that at this particular game. A little rowdiness is great for the game.

A family section is not a bad idea either.

In an attempt to fill the sidelines most GA ticket purchasers were told to sit anywhere in the stadium, I had some people sitting in my regular (season ticket) seats who politely moved down but the guy in front of me had quite the colorful discussion with two young ladies that were adamant about sitting in his seats. Students were scattered all around the stadium, I would guess that the next game, we'll not have this problem.

As an FAU football fan thats had the pleasure of sitting in the student section and as a season ticket holder I'll put in my .02.
There will always be people more interested in the party side of college football than the game, go to any college football game in the nation, a lot of people go just for the tailgate. The difference is that those games have many other fans interested in going inside so no one cares about the people in the parking lot.

Regarding the obscene fans…I agree with asking someone to watch their mouths if they are shouting obscenities and youre being offended but seriously, cheering and heckling are part of the game, hell, they are part of "home field advantage" let them go!

Might I suggest a hefty donation to the university so you'll have your very own personal skybox :)

Where I was sittin in the band was an odd spot. You had the student section to our one side that was alittle rouadier then usual because they were closer to the action, and the the fans to the other side never seemed to want to make alot of noise on big plays.

Because we wear that little patch with the school's logo and name on our uniform we have an "Expected Behavior". It meantions not using abusive laungue. We were always told this ment no swaring. No words that end with UCK (i.e. luck, duck, suck), because on tv and the other side of the stadium it ust turns into F**K. And no taunting, but anyone that sits next to us knows this is always the first to go. Basketball season last spring we just threw that one out the window. In fact Coach Dugan loves what we say said at her games.

I was on the field up and down the visitors' sideline. I heard the "B.S" cheers, which were loud, but they didn't bother me - especially considering how bad the calls were.

I did not hear any real profanity.

I thought there were some groups of great cheering fans up and down the visitors' sideline. The 50-yard line home side area was the deadest section.

What was the deal with this sign?

I am a season ticket holder and I occasionally bring my 5 year old with the understanding that I am going to a COLLEGE game… with COLLEGE age fans… I was out of control when I was a student and got crazy loud at our first football games and basketball games… (still do when I don't bring the kids ;D ) Now, as a parent, I still understand the mentality of a COLLEGE game and take that risk when bringing my son… seeing as their are plenty of seats in the stadium I just get up and move if I hear too much profanity… which luckily I have not heard… College football is full of college kids… if you are an old FAU fan… just think back to when you were 18-20 and in college… roudiness will happen… profanity we can do without…

I kind of like that it could have a double meaning. The Offense is playing lights out football….too bad that wasn't the case.

I totally agree with the Family friendly section. I'm all for fan participation (without stepping over the line into vulgarity). Of course, there are always people who are going to cross the line from zealous fan to indecent expletive spewer :o and that's the case in sports as well as for life in general. I for one would love to use the Family Ticket Plan for a designated section in our new stadium on campus! Go Owls!

I also think a Family Section would be good. College Students are part of the game, and yes, they can be a little rowdy but have you ever been to a Philly Eagles game? They throw batteries!!!

That's a pretty good drawing of a light switch too!
