Never been to an Eagles game but I have had oranges rain on me at Neyland stadium in Knoxville. More foregiving than batteries, depending on their ripeness! ;D

I totally agree that the student section is part of the overall experience and typically the pulse of the stadium. Now that I have kids, I need to keep them sheltered from the ghosts of my past for as long as I can!! ;)

I agree with the family section. We want people to show up. If rules are put in place that you can't do this, you can't do that, etc, people will say the heck with it and stop coming to the games. People want to have fun at the games. I'm not condoning profanity at all but I don't see a way to stop it without someone policing the stands like it was high school.

Set up a family section for people with young kids and others that aren't comfortable with the profanity.

If you are talking about just plain old yelling, well, its a football game, not a movie theater. I'm all for that. If any Clemson people are reading this they probably think we're crazy. Those people can produce some noise.

I also agree that a family section would be a good idea... the majority of season ticket holders have young kids... everytime I bring my 5 year old he meets a new friend... and gradually as they grow up we can start edging towards the student section to revisit our ghosts of the past lol...

The student section was VERY rowdy… and it's a good sign. I do agree that the language was not appropriate (nor would I participate in the berating), but it's very difficult to change the behavior without drastically reducing student attendance (which is the same at every college football game I've been to, regardless of the location). Students should stay in the student section, families in the general admission section. Once we start winning there will be more reason to cheer instead.

Go on any college message board and you will find the same thing.

Either an attendee or a rival fan will complain about how terrible the fans were OR someone will talk about how great an experience they had. Two sides to every coin, just as this thread is evolving.

Until more families show up, I don't see a need for a family friendly area. God forbid, what do we do when a chant gets loud enough that little Johnny hears it? The ever present BULL SH!T chant comes to mind right away.

What SHOULD be done is like at every other stadium there are the visiting section, the student section and an alumni section (usually based on donation) and then a general admission section.

It was nice that their was noise in the stadium for the first time since the Colgate game. It was nice that there were organized chants going here and there. Unfortunately, the profanity is present and sometimes it's one bad apple that ruins it for the bunch.

Since many people are stating that they were sitting over there and did not hear the "whore" comment, I'm curious as to what exactly was said and how repeated it was. I hope that OldOwl is not taking one instance and making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Here is the sign about which the ULL fans remarked on their site. I made this picture but just noticed the sign.

No SigEp, not making a mountain out of mole hill. The majority of the students are usually just having fun. He'll, I'll admit I've even join in the "Hey ref you suck" after checking for nearby little ears. I just wish a dozen or so of the students had stayed home including the one that asked me, "was I gay", after I got up from where my wife and I were sitting to politely remind a student, that smoking was prohibited in the stands. What the hell was that comment for? Regarding the "whore" comment. I was paraphasing but the message was the same and equally vulgar, I wasn't taking notes. Bottom line; Love the students, mine graduated in 05 and was one of the first members of the Cannon Crew. Have a good time, just show some respect for surrounding fans, staff and players.

honestly if you were asked that..thats ashame..but it doesnt really make sense...i have a hard time believing quite frankly...if it bothers you...then move..there are PLENTY of open seats...we need those bodies in the seats..and while i dont condone behavior..its part of the college fball experience.....also as far as smoking...i have never once seen anyone smoke in the stands...weird

I couldn't hear any profanity from my season tickets, but there were some friendly students sitting in front of me. The only thing I had a problem with was that I walked in just a minute or two before kick-off and there appeared to be a couple hundred (at least) students still drinking in the parking lot. I'm not sure if they all watched the game, but I know just a few years ago when I was a student some would just show up to drink and then go home without watching the game.
