Frankly it doesnt look like Angelos is wanted here much longer

So let me get this straight. Angelos has already visited with several candidates for the HC job, Is scheduled to speak with several more to meet their December 5th deadline for hiring a new coach - Then Angelos is getting axed?

Yeah, that makes zero sense.  If President Saunders wanted to replace Angelos, it would have happened by now…and he certainly wouldn't be leading the process to hire the new football coach.  That's the most important hire an AD will make.  I don't think they'd let someone they didn't want around much longer make that call.

Re: FAU Assistant Coaches Out After Season

And… Its still hard for me to believe that a guy who had the #2 team in the nation in the Big 12 conference wants to come to the worst team in Div 1 football, let alone the Sunbelt conference. I think that the FAU HC job is more suited for someone that hasnt been an HC or is a HC at a lower level. Does anyone know who the 1 coach was who didnt recieve the pink slip this week?

You could always call Coach Leach and ask him.  He hosts a call-in show every afternoon with Jack Arute on XM channel 91.

My bet would be Van Valkenburgh.  They would not have interviewed him twice about the HC job then pink slip him.  I think they will let the new HC make that decision.

Howard was a National Championship coach and came to FAU.  I dont think Mike Leach would come if we were 3rd in the Belt at 6-4 right now and ranked #70 in the country…I highly doubt that affects his decision.

I agree with the fact that Leach is a 100:1 long shot to come here.  He is still in his prime, and far more lucrative opportunities await for him.  Howard was way past his prime when he became the Director of Football Operations then went on to become head coach.

Same. He's the recruiting coordinator, which helped save him (for now) as well as the DC, which is playing some of the best football its played in a long, long time.

That's a good point. Could call and tell him about your support for him to come here.

Who is Eddie Gran and has ever been the Head Coach at the FBS college level?

Since you asked….he's the associate HC under Jimbo right now, which is a grooming position, but it's his first year. Obviously he wants to get into the big time game…why is he a good candidate?

A lot of the coaches at FSU have titles of "xxxx head coach."  I don't know why they do that, but I wouldn't read anything into it about grooming him for something higher.  That was a Bowden thing.
