Maybe I wouldn't go that far, but I do feel that the success of FAU before the last 3 years (on offense) was directly connected to Nord…especially with the QB position…and overall development of the offense as as Offensive Coordinator. Nord is a players coach. I'll even go on a limb an say that he was more responsible than HS.

Looking at our offense today, what you say about Nord does make sense.
I still would not want him back though.

He could have stayed here, continued winning at a pretty good clip in the Belt, gone to Bowls and by now have already have been named the Coach in waiting prior to this season. So you can defiantly say his actions have had a large hand in this DISASTER!

Me too, he did leave us for a "better" job and that leaves me a little feeling he has already shown a lack of loyalty.

Gary Nord is not a turncoat…he was offered an extra 100 grand to go coach a school in the Big 10…take your annual salary, double it and tell me you wouldn't go do that!
It's like the people who hate on Doherty, the guy was offered like triple what he was making at FAU…now, could he have stayed one more year, done even better and then made MORE money? Yes, that's where I think he screwed up but you guys are crazy that think they're jerks for leaving for a much bigger payday.
We're not talking an extra 20 grand here, it's a serious bump.

The word loyalty does not exist in business period….if you think your employer will reward you for being "loyal" when things go sideways you'll be a very sorry unemployed person. I'll agree businesses feel bad about laying off good loyal people but those owners have very expensive mattresses and sheets to help them sleep at night ;)

I'd agree with that, but I think the world of college and professional sports takes it to a whole other level. Especially for mid-major schools like FAU. Case in point, look at how many hoops coaches we've had the past 6 years, 3. And it may be 4 if Coach Jarvis is not happy with his contract offer.
