My question is this:
Is it better for recruiting to beat Texas and not go bowling? Or,
Lose to Texas, but beat Troy and MTSU and go bowling?

A lot of 6 and 6 teams will go bowling this year. We don't have to win the conference to go bowling. Let's finish strong in our conference and everything else will be a bonus!

I think recruits look at the program not the win/loss record of a team as that can change year to year drastically. As HS says, "there is a small difference between 10-0 and 1-5.
That being said, beating Texas in Austin shows recruits our program is capable of anything.

A win in Austin would get us national noteriety and would be talked about all weekend and even talked about when discussing the down season for the long horns.
I think that if we can tell recruits we beat the University of Texas they'd be more impressed than with us winning a 2nd rate bowl game against a bottom feeder from C-USA or MAC
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

If we get invited to a bowl we go to a bowl no if ands or butsboozie132 said
How about this question does it make sense to go bowling with a mediocre team and lose or chalk up this season to rebuilding? Would it look better to have a no loss bowl record and allow coach to go undefeated in bowl wins?

I know diff conferences, diff situations. I have respect for Tex. They were VERY hospitable when the Dirtys went over there few seasons ago and their fans were really cool, unlike in SCar. I'm not a fan!
Granted I'd love to beat them but they're having a down year they'll reload

They'll drop one of the remaining games…bound to happen the way this league has gone thus far…but they have to drop two, and we win out, to even be in the hunt.
A bit more unrealistic given the way they have been playing.
As it looks, there could even be a scenario where 5 teams finish at 5-3…but let's not go there.
Based on any tie breaking procedures that I normally see out there, the first one is always head to head. So, if (for example) FIU, Troy, and FAU all finish 6-6 doesn't FAU win the conference due to beating both of them?
