They were spoiled with a 10 or 11 win season a few years back. The cyclical nature of college football.

GO OWLS!!!

It looks like they are on the road to another 4 wins this year and have averaged less than 6 wins per year for the last 10 years.  I don't think they feel that is "cyclical".

They might be on to something.

Certainly they don't. They had 10 wins in 2003. They stunk it up from 2004 to 2007. I was at Ole Miss in 2008 when they were 9-4. They followed that up with 9-4 in 2009. They have dropped off the last two years. I see something cyclical in that.

The folks in Oxford want 8 wins per year. Not too many teams in the SEC can do that.

GO OWLS!!!

The following are the wins by year starting at 2011;
4
4
9
9
3
4
3
4
10
7

I don't see that as cyclical, I see that as a avg. to weak program at best with a a few good years thrown in.  I think what they are trying to say is this is not where they want to be and I agree.

I don't believe that is our problem but it very well might be theirs.

Call it what you will. There is a pattern. Sure they want more consistency, but not every SEC team can have 8 wins a year.

Re: FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

I think all of their 7+ win season came from Eli Manning and Jevon Snead.  Its no coincedence that they win when they have a good QB.  Thats what makes college football cyclical is that they must graduate and you must continually hit on QB's being successful….every coach misses on that sometimes and the team sucks because of it.  Hence cyclical.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

NCAA Football is definitely Cyclical!  If your coaching stinks your cycle can be in a downward spinning cycle for many years or very inconsistent.  This is why big teams like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio State, etc are good for a few years and then are just an average team for a while.  FAU could of been a power house if we held together our coaching staff from 2007 & 2008 seasons.

Another reason NCAA football is cyclical is that if your team is good one year and then 16 starters graduate–guess what, you will not be as good during your next year.  Of course there are some exceptions, GREAT COACHES bring in good talent all the time!  Some coaches are great at finding talent and down years are not as bad.

You are missing the point! Of course college football is cyclical that is not what the discussion was supposed to be about here.  The point here was that they believe their issues are more than just the regular cyclical nature of college football.

This is ridiculous.

Sorry Dusky!  I see what you are saying–I guess I jumped in on this to late and didn't read the very first post.  These posts can change direction several times before they end ;)  Well, as long as you agree with me on how cyclical football can be–that's all that counts.

To my point and Ole Miss' point–we are on to something also.  Our leadership has failed us and our down years are way to often ;D

Re: FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

I am just trying to get my head around this is an administration issue at Ole Miss. When they hired Nutt everybody loved the decision and everyone supported him and the team when they were having success with Snead under center. The team has great facilities and the university has lots of money to throw the way of athletics. It isn't like Ole Miss is hiring a second tier coach for peanuts. The administration is not the problem in my opinion. It is a number of factors including recruiting. It is simply difficult to recruit players to come to Mississippi when you are competing with the likes of LSU, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina as well as in state rival Mississippi State.

Re: FAU Fans Marching to the Wrong Campaign Drum?

I spoke to a student that actually transferred from Ole Miss to FAU.  He said that the school is in the middle of nowhere and there is absolutely nothing to do.  He said FAU has so much to offer students and he wishes he never wasted his time there.

I hope that FAU gets this straight and gets us in a safe conference, because we have so much to offer.  I envision the possibilities and I hope everybody else does.  We can't just stand around and say "which way did he go" or what happened or why didn't we get an offer to join the Big East, CUSA, etc?

Still concerned!
