FAU Football Stadium (DONE DEAL) gets $42 million in donations from 2 sponsors!

I'm not trying to be negative here everyone but it's not a done deal until the check has been cashed…just because they are meeting to go over the final details does not make this a signed contract. And until we see handshakes and hugs on camera and an OFFICIAL announcement…don't get too excited.

Finally someone that sees where I am coming from.

I get up this morning, check the board and to my surprise a link that says the university gets $42 million for the stadium. Man was I excited. Of course, I open the link and find out that the news is nothing new and it in fact is not a "done deal."

This is getting ridiculous. Please refrain from any sort of false advertising regarding the stadium. When the check is cashed we can say "done deal." Until then, lets remain cautiously optimistic.

i don't know how the dorms will affect the housing @ fau in terms of money lost but another 2400 on campus is great news. less commuter cars on glades, more people on campus during the weekends and will definitely increase attendance at all sporting events.

Hopefully that will get more people to stick around. I mean, we have 2400 now and that's not enough to keep everyone here all the time.

The best part about these new dorms is they're apartment style. It's way easier for people to party when there isn't an RA on every floor.

In fact, since the average age of an FAU student is 25, they will hopefully be building more of these apartment-style dorms in the future.

2400 existing + 2400 future = 4800 future total… if they built two more 600 bed dorms after that, they'd have 6000 people on campus. That's a very good number and could be done by as soon as 2015 if waitlist demand is there…

Not that it means much but I've been hearing that a committee is currently looking at models for Greek Housing, particularly the one at Western Carolina University. That could be another 400+ people if that ever gets built, which I think it will because I'm sure after Innovation Village is complete, Brogan and Brown are going to be pressing hard on Greek Life to finally seal the deal on Greek housing.

No. It is the same as what we have been discussing for the past couple of weeks. Nothing is official as of yet.

***sigh***

On record…mark this thread…write it down…circle it…"do what you have to do"! ;D

We WILL have the funding to move forward.

It will be in one fo the following ways:

1.  Private naming rights
2.  Private development of the housing phase

The latter is a LOCK…there is significant competition amongst companies for this "option"…

It is not the first "choice", which belongs to naming rights…but it is a failsafe in the event that doesnt happen - which i still believe will happen…

Bottom line, barring an act of God, we are "golden".

I give you serious props for being the eternal optimist. I just have to wonder if you remember all of the promises of a dome etc. Seems that you have forgotten about all of the things that have gone unfulfilled in the past. I am not trying to be negative, I just don't understand how you can be so optimistic.

Re: FAU Football Stadium (DONE DEAL) gets $42 million in donations from 2 sponsors!

With the news of the backup plan of getting fundage from developmental part I am officially VERY much sold on the stadium being built in time for 2010.

Im about 60% sold on a naming rights deal being imminent.

Personally, I dont care how its funded by FAU. It needs to get built ASAP. A team of this caliber should have a good home on thier campus. They (and we as fans) deserve better the craphart.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Ok, lets stand back here and disect what you just referred to:

"Talk".

Ok, now for reality:

There are SEVEN companies lined up, in competition against themselves, to do the housing project at a project base of $10M.

Owlfan, im not being "optimistic"…im being "realistic"! :)
