FAU Football Experiences More Changes in Staff

As much as it sucks for anyone to lose their job, when one goes to work in athletics, I think you have to know that there is no such thing as job security, especially at the college level and especially now.  I would love to see us keep people on board with a history at FAU, but if we want to progress, those guys will be gone unfortunately.

Re: FAU Football Experiences More Changes in Staff

They say the third time is a charm, and that cliche ran true on Wednesday.

Former FAU Football Operations Director Sean Todd has confirmed that he's accepted the same position at rival neighbor Florida International. His appointment is still pending the finalization of a background check.

Todd had applied on three separate occasions for the position, including one during his time under former Coach Howard Schnellenberger.

"I applied with Mario (Cristobal), and decided to stay with FAU. When he left, I got another shot but they went with someone else", said Todd.

As our initial article outlined, Todd was let go after more than 10 years of service for the Owls, and served in a foundational leadership role. That was the final prompter when the job became available again just recently under new Panther Coach Ron Turner.

Todd met with Turner on Wednesday afternoon and said the meeting produced the confirmation needed to settle in on the third go round.

"I bled blue and red (for years), but it is good to be wanted", said Todd.

Re: FAU Football Experiences More Changes in Staff

Todd recently participated in an interview with the FIU Student Media…

Had some good insight to offer, including this gem:

“In 2007 when I was a part of FAU’s program they entered the season ranked to finish last in the Sun-Belt. That really took pressure off so the athletes had nothing to lose each and every week,” Todd said. “The team ended up winning the conference and going to a bowl game that year and I am not saying that always happens but it does take a lot of pressure off.”
