The Fusion/Lockhart owner was a key player in FAU going with Dolphin stadium. His demands were outrageous!!
The PPS deal was also built up as a recruiting tool. It worked and got the players in but the financial end of the deal really stuck it too us in the long run.

This will take a few years to take affect. I'm sure that most Trustees understand the layout but have to go on record as "paying attention" to the details and publically quetioning the process.

Surfing the web and found a few naysayers among our past D1-AA friends. :o

The Anygiven"Sky is falling"Saturday Website writers are all about I told you so's.
Little do they know that FAU will survive this and be even stronger in the long run.

I'm even more shocked that FAMU is talking smack on thier board. They are only a traffic jam away from having neither of their two coaches on campus! Oh yeah…5 quit last week.

Haters… :P

it all comes down to the stadium, if they don't build it the university will continue to lose money every year. Even if every game is sold out its still only 20k at lockhart and it will get old quick.

You cant expect to make money the first few years at the start of a new venture. Like any business, and college football is a business, its going to take time and investment before you can start earning a profit.

We will be better off going 1-A, then staying at the 1-AA level (just being in the south florida market dictate this move), sure the financial burden will be larger at the beggining - you can't tell me that this wasn't looked at before making the jump, please, if I remember correctly when we applied for the SBC a study was done to justify the move, so there should be surpprise at the financial burden it would bring - the jump to 1-A was tied to us having a stadium on campus, thus the Dome multi-function stadium just makes sense in order to generate the revenue needed to continue the growth invisioned. The multi-purpose stadium can generate more revenue for the university then an open air type of stadium - the trustee knows this, the articles in the papers only show one side to a story and does not really do justice for the long term process that is really involve with building this program to a higher status.
