FAU Football Celebration on Saturday, January 19th!!!

A little burrowing owl sent me this info today:

There will be a celebration to honor the 2007 football team's championship run. The event will take place on Saturday, January 19 starting at 3:30 in the Burrow Arena on the Boca Campus. This event will be held in conjunction with the men and women's basketball double header games at 5 and 7. More details will follow soon.

In addition, Coach Schnellenberger is in the process of working with the Mayor of Boca and the city to plan a parade; however there is no guarantee that this will take place. Please be sure to check www.fausports.com for the latest updates on this and other FAU sports news. Thanks again.

That's awesome, that's my b-day. It'd be an awesome day if both our teams won, as well the football celebration. What a birthday that would be!

They're not actually calling it the "Burrow Arena" now, are they?

In the emails sent out by FAU, they ARE calling it the Burrow Arena.

I was never really fond of calling it The Burrow, that's all.  I'd like for it to have a *true* name other than FAU Arena, but I realize now that it's probably futile to name something that probably won't be around five years from now.

I wouldn't look too deeply into it. It's likely only because they want people to call it the Burrow but not enough people know that the Burrow is the Arena.

Nah, it will be around for awhile. If they don't use it for basketball because they've built a 15,000-seat basketball arena, they'll use it as the official home for FAU Volleyball (as Craig Angelos said on his blog).
